Large sinkhole patched in Arlington
Who got it done: Arlington County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources
Time to fix: 2.5 weeks
It's not often a sinkhole deep enough to swallow a person opens up on a trail, but griper William reported one on an Arlington trail in mid-July. Near the 1700 block of N. Roosevelt Street, the hole developed in an asphalt stretch.
"The asphalt continues to crumble, making the hole bigger, as the earth beneath the trail can be seen to be about 6" below!" William wrote.
Arlington parks officials jumped on the problem filling in the big hole and giving William an update on its progress.

One note:
I guess this sinkhole WOULD be "deep enough to swallow a person" (assuming it's a whopping six inches deep) -- IF the person were a small child and if said person were to lie down in the hole. No standing up allowed!

Hmmm -- Did you really mean this huge pothole was six INCHES (6") deep? I kind of thought the tone of the article implied a really deep hole that was more like six FEET, which would have been written with the single apostrophe mark (6'). Which is correct?
