Catania Planning Health Care Bill
During a press briefing today, Council member David A. Catania (I-At Large), who said he was ironically a "little congested," announced his intentions to introduce a comprehensive health plan in the Council tomorrow.
He said the plan, which The Post's David Nakamura wrote about last week, will capture residents who earn too much money for federal aid and too little to purchase insurance.
"These are people that are caught in the middle," he said.
Though Fenty vowed before he was elected that he would not raise taxes, Catania said he believes he will have the mayor's support because "these are new taxes for new priorities, so it's slightly different."
JoAnne Ginsberg, Fenty's legislative director, said the administration is still reviewing the bill.
