Thomas Explains Switch From Clinton to Obama

Harry Thomas Jr. told the D.C. Wire yesterday that he decided to throw his "superdelegate" support behind Barack Obama last week to honor the "will of his constituents."

Thomas, the council member for Ward 5, had gotten the pot boiling in the District when, after winning a superdelegate seat to the Democratic Convention by just two votes, he announced he was not sure whom he would be supporting, Obama or Clinton. Thomas had declared himself a Clinton supporter early on.

Being an unpledged superdelegate of course put Thomas in the spotlight and he was flooded with calls and emails from District residents, where Obama had soundly defeated Clinton in the District primary.

Thomas also got some primetime with the candidates themselves. He said he spoke with Obama

the week before the Philadelphia debate and with Clinton on the morning of the debate. That's when he told her of his decision.

"She was understanding about it," Thomas told the Wire. His family, he said, had been longtime Clinton supporters. "My father and mother were delegates for Clinton when he first ran, and our family supported her when she ran for senate. There's a lot of history there."

But Thomas said he told the former first lady that he could not go against the will of his constituents. He went public with his decision at a debate watch party.

"What's happening with Barack is more of a movement than a campaign, and going against it at the convention would do more damage to the party than what happened in Florida" in 2000, Thomas said, noting that the future of the party could be at risk.

"I had to make a decision about that campaign and move on," he said, "and get back to the business of dealing with these deaths we're having in Ward 5." The area has had a disturbing rash of deaths in recent days. Thomas had already called for a crime emergency a few weeks back.

The council member seems to be on the move lately--literally. D.C. Wire caught up with Thomas in Little Rock, Ark., yesterday, where he was attending a conference for the National Forum of Black Public Administrators.

Reuters-Obama's Support Softens in Poll, Suggesting a Peak Has Passed.

AP-52 % will not vote for Obama after Wright speech
Obama drops 11 pts on electability

Mainstream media needs to stop pushing Obama down voter's throats and stop the stupid Clinton bashing. Where's a true journalist? Obamas campaign pastor is not going away anytime soon Rev Wright says you don't have to wait for the afterlife for the mansion on the hilltop, he's right! To shut him up Trinity United Church of Christ is building Rev. Wright a $1 mil house on a lot that was purchased for $345,000. According to his federal income tax return Obama gave the Trinity United church $22,500 in contributions. CBS Chicago has strangely not released video they have of Obama at Trinity United Church of Christ Service with Pastor Wright. According to a Chicago Tribune article, at the Service Obama spoke to the cheering congregation and the choir sang, "Hallelujah Barack". After the service Wright and Obama sat together, laughing , talking and signing books. if ANY other candidate had this controversy swirling the footage would have found it's way to the national and cable news networks by now! Obama who marched with Farrakhan Also Wright is OPRAHS Pastor; Slurs Italians in Latest Magazine (CNSNews.com) Wright continues his Obama supported attacks on non-blacks now slurring Italians in issue of Trumpet Newsmag. Wright states, Jesus enemies had their opinion, Italians looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans, and Jesus death on a cross was a public lynching Italian style! This government runs everything from the White House to the schoolhouse, from the Capitol to the KKKlan of white supremacy who is clearly in charge. Every issue published Wright's rant against white people in which he covers a world that is controlled by white supremacy, a country that's on its way to h*ll in a hand basket because of lying politicians, in a culture that still thinks 'white is right!

He said young African-American Christians are more concerned about 'bling bling' than about freeing their minds and still Obama says I could no more disown him than I could disown the black community. Trumpet Newsmagazine started 80s, Wright is CEO and Wright's daughter, Jeri Wright, is the publisher. Requests for comments Obama camp of course not answered. Trumpet Nov/Dec edition, featured Louis Farrakhan, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement "Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter" award. Farrakhan has called Judaism a "gutter religion" and said Jews are "bloodsuckers. Many of the biased cable news pundits try to make viewers believe Obama's speech limited damage of Wright controversy, but the general election will show voters strongly disagree, especially non-black voters. Obama refuses to explain to the public why he would have someone as such a close spiritual advisor and mentor and why he would expose two young daughters to such hatefulness against fellow Americans. The problem Wright's comments are not theological views, but political statements. This is a serious issue for Obama in general election. As with each new utterance on the topic of Reverend Wright, Barack Obama confirms his own moral obliviousness and he seems to have disdain for those who are troubled by his own unwillingness to break with Wright, even worse Obama still insists Wright is a brilliant man, So brilliant, apparently, that he has uncovered the plot by white America to kill African Americans, so insightful to perceive the 9/11 attacks caused by American terrorism and his discerning observation Israel is a "dirty" word, and still in Obama's eyes, Wright is brilliant. This, we are told by biased cable news pundits like CNN Obamaphiles, is not supposed to affect voters' view of Obama's judgment. Perhaps voters are embarrassed to tell pollsters they are privately offended. General election Republicans as well as independents and democrats are irked by this moral obtuseness even though media like CNN or Hardball cover it up with bogus Clinton attacks.

A lot of spam from one or more very voluble Clinton supporters, I see, but not much real substance. Well, isn't that what we've come to expect from the Clintons? And isn't their desperation starting to show, as evidenced by the trivialities they've been forced to use against Sen. Obama?

I think it's clear to most Americans that we need a change from the last 20 years of Bush/Clinton/Bush rule. We need a break with the old politics, and we need new leadership. Sen. Obama can provide that leadership. I think that delegates like Mr. Thomas are simply recognizing that obvious fact.

E-mail the Dem Party if you like, but if you do, it should be to request that Sen. Clinton drop out of the race in the name of party unity, so that we can all get behind Sen. Obama and present a united front against the Republicans and Sen. McCain.

End the hysteria and move forward, Dems. Let's get behind a winner, Sen. Barack Obama.

What's happening to the moderators around here? Can I also cut and paste 3 paragraphs of Hillary talking points and obscure poll data with no time reference?

For you anti-Obama people, assuming you are not in Hillary's pocket, what is it exactly that you are fearful of? The Clintons have 10 times more skeletons in their closets, so potential scandal isn't the answer.
Ask yourselves, do you tighten up when passed in the street by a black male? Do you clutch your purse close to your side? But chances are, no black person ever harmed you. You are harboring some deep seated anxiety which is not based in reality. You are a proud product of other people's stereotypes.

And you post anonymously. No time to type a name after all the cutting and pasting?

We will win despite your foolishness. Obama '08

Please pardon me if the above cut-and-paste arguments against Obama don't sway me. Let me respond to them simply:

Reuters-Obama's Support Softens in Poll, Suggesting a Peak Has Passed...

I truly believe this is exaggerated. It is true that this issue broke some of his support, but this whole "scandal" is based on one, perhaps two segments taken from nearly 1000 sermons over 20 years. There are many who do not agree with the character assassination of Rev. Wright, and since Obama has already parted ways with him, time will help recover some of Obama's losses in popularity.

Obama looses another pledged delegate!...

The only voters demanding that Obama drop out are not going to vote for him anyways. This is propaganda on the first order - check out the recent rally in Philadelphia, and it is obvious that for every voter/super that drops from Obama's campaign, there are plenty more that take his/her place. Further, why is Obama still winning the MONEY PRIMARY that is no longer big news anymore?

OBAMAS AGAIN NAMED IN FEDERAL Rezko trial!...

Once again, propaganda. He is not on trial, but someone he knew. This guilt-by-association is a weak argument, and Obama's chief rival for the Democratic nomination has a far richer history with indicted former friends. Obama isn't on trial, but I can hardly wait to finally hear when Peter Paul takes Bill and Hillary Clinton to trial - that's in just a few days, right? Now there's a story the MSM is hiding.

I've noticed a lot of "trolling" by Clinton supporters lately - I can understand enthusiasm for a candidate when news articles are unfair or discouraging. But, my gut tells me that this is a concerted effort to convince the net-roots (aka the "nut-roots" according to Clinton's propaganda outlet Hillaryis44) that Obama isn't the better candidate. So, once again please forgive my total lack of respect.

The writing is on the wall: Hillary Clinton is LOSING!

The anti-Obama rants appearing above are both arsenic and myopic. To twist Michelle Obama's statements to suit a particular agenda is indicative of a person filled with fear at God knows what!

America is built on the blood of slaves, 250 years of inhumane free labour enforced on the African American population. What reason would any amongsr them have to be proud of such a nation? Its like asking the Jews in Germany to state they have always been of being Germans, despite the genocide visited on them in the past by that state! Obama represents a chance for America to cleanse its soul and move on from the inhumane cruelty she visited on many people and on the world. Barrack Obama and many progressive Americans have sensed this once in a lifetime opportunity, and rightfully want to do so. To call him a racist especially coming from those who practised this abominable policy, is foolish indeed. As for the link with Osama Bin Laden, yeah well, Jeffery DAHLMER also shares a citizenhip with the author of the above posting. So what's the point?

All this appears to be is a front for anti-black sentiment, the very racism the writer so easily accuses Michelle Obama of. Please grow up sir and join us in the 21st century, the stone age is no place to dwell in these exciting times!

That was a spoiled and destructive move, many believe cost the white house by drawing money and attention from the general election.

She cared not about the party, only her senate seat and run for the presidency.

When they donate some of that 101 million to the campaign I might listen.

www.ethiopiansforbarackobama.com

1 pound failed foreign policy
½ pound on the loose Bin Laden
All-purpose tax cut for the wealthy
4 tablespoons of foreign oil
1/2 cup chopped economy
1 sub prime housing woes
1/4 cup borrowed money from China
1/3 cup Heck-of-a-job Brownie
1 dashing of hope
Cook for 100 years

Apparently, John McCain seems to believe that after eight years of unmitigated failure by the Bush administration, the American public wants four more years of a Bush entrée. And while we are distracted by forty-five minutes of yellow journalism conducted by George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson, McCain is on the loose advocating a third term of the Bush administration. While Obama represents change, McCain represents more of the same. Want a new course in Iraq, McCain offers more of the same. A desire for new thinking on our foreign policy, McCain offers more of the same. Need a practical solution to the state of our economy, McCain offers more of the same.

Of course, there was a time when McCain sounded like a sensible candidate. During the 2000 campaign, McCain was the polar opposite of the Bush mindset. He stood against a tax-cut that was tilted in favor of those who needed it the least. He was opposed to the far right-wing of the Republican party, having tasted the bitter pill of division and intolerance himself from the likes of Jerry Falwell. He stood firm against the most xenophobic members of his own party, advocating a sensible immigration plan. But something happened on the way to Kansas, the straight-bus express morphed into the "selfsame-express". McCain 2.0 is not McCain 1.0; in fact, as the day passes, one can barely distinguish where the Bush policies end and where the McCain proposals begin.

Take for example McCain's position on the state of the economy. It took McCain three tries before admitting that maybe the Bush economic recipe is not as palatable as he portended. To this day, he continues to berate the point that the government should not bail out "speculators". Where was this fierce opposition to "speculators" when the Fed bailed out the biggest speculators of them all by continuously pumping liquidity to rescue the big lenders who were the biggest culprits of our sub-primed economy. Moreover, it belies the point that the majority of those struggling in today's market are "housing speculators". Of course, there were those who dove head first into the housing market in order to flip a profit on the quick. However, the majority of those who qualified for the sub-prime loans and are now struggling to keep up with the mortgage payments are not speculators, they are hard-working Americans who wanted desperately to own a house and a piece of the American dream. Most do not have the financial wherewithal to buy multiple houses in hopes of cashing-in, they bought a house the only way they could, even if they did not realize that the dotted line they were signing contained a poison pill of escalating interest rates and suffocating ARMs. Those that were speculators might have lost money on the margin, but for the most part, they by no-means represent the overwhelming majority of Americans who are struggling to keep up with the mortgage payments.

Then of course there is McCain's instance on the status-quo in Iraq. His elixir to the Iraq fiasco is nothing more than "stay the course". He advocates staying in Iraq for a hundred years, with the caveat of "as long as there are no Americans dying". Well if my aunt had....The fact is that Americans are dying, and no one can tell us with certainty how long the violence in Iraq will continue. Thus McCain offers us a circular argument. We cannot leave Iraq as long as there is violence in Iraq, however, if the violence starts to subside, we cannot leave Iraq because the violence will flair back up. Essentially, this is the same as arguing that one cannot start exercising until one loses weight, and if one loses weight then there is no need to exercise. In other words, it depends on one's definition of what "is" is. We are stuck in an Iraqi quicksand; instead of offering a stick out, McCain is telling us we just need to keep moving while we drown in a sea of debt and lost American soldiers. It is enough to make one bitter.

We often get distracted from the very real issues that confront us. Sensational stories about a misspoken word, guilt by association, and who copied a recipe from a website might grab headlines and become the talk around the water cooler, but these stories do not contribute an iota towards ameliorating the urgent issues that confront us all. What we need is less platitude of staying the course and more conversation about our worsening economy and our deepening lack of confidence in the direction of our country. Apparently, Dick Cheney could care less about the desire that Americans share for a profound change in the way we do business. What we need from our next President is someone who listens to and understands our concerns--not someone who offers more of the same. After being served eight years of the Bush buffet, the last thing we need is a chef that offers the same menu.

It would seem from the facts that Sen. Obama is as much black as he is white. This suggests that if he wins in November it's silly to characterize him as the first black president.
By the way, the folks who ought to tighten up when passing by a black male on the street are black folks. Consult the national crime statistics. The victims of crimes committed by black men are disproportionately black people.
That Hillary Clinton could even be a contender for the nomination shows how much the Democratic party leaders are lacking in principles, character and judgment.

As for Hillary Clintons universal health care. The uninsured already get free healthcare. Everyone who is uninsured can get Medicaid, so what's the problem?
Healthcare is not a right.
No one should get free healthcare.
Healthcare should be treated like an individual commodity - it should only be available to those who can afford it.
UHC is fundamentally anti-American, because America is a capitalist and individualist society. We have the best health care system in the world. Why should we endanger it by adopting universal health care? The government can't do anything right, and they definitely shouldn't be involved with our healthcare system. I don't want government-run healthcare. The free market is the best solution to the lack of insurance.
I don't want UHC because it's socialized medicine. might support UHC but are concerned about the implementation
We can't afford UHC. People will abuse the free health care in a UHC system. UHC would create waiting lists. UHC would result in the rationing of care. Jobs will be lost during the transition from our current system to UHC.
As for Obama. Obama's father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was a radical Muslim who migrated from Kenya to Jakarta, Indonesia. He met Obama's mother, Ann Dunham-a white atheist from Wichita, Kansas-at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Obama, Sr. and Dunham divorced when Barack, Jr. was two. Obama's spinmeisters are now attempting to make it appear that Obama's introduction to Islam came from his father and that influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya immediately following the divorce and never again had any direct influence over his son's education. Dunham married another Muslim, Lolo Soetoro who educated his stepson as a good Muslim by enrolling him in one of Jakarta's Wahabbi schools. Wahabbism is the radical teaching that created the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad on the industrialized world. Since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when you are seeking political office in the United States, Obama joined the United Church of Christ to help purge any notion that he is still a Muslim. Like I said before neither one of these senators will ever become our next president. You mine as well except the fact that John Mcain will be our next president

This whole election is very sad.
The media focuses on trivia, rather than issues, and with everything as bad as it is, the Democratic Party is self-destructing, with the divisiveness between the Clinton & Obama sects.
The bottomline to me, is whether or not America is ready to elect a black candidate?
Unfortunately, I think America is still too racist. And with the media, at this moment, doing everything to build up McCain, and tear down Obama, this country is truly in trouble. If McCain is elected,
this country is toast.

On October 2, 2002, Barack Obama's judgment told him that starting a war in Iraq would be a big mistake and he forcefully said so. Much to the contrary later that same month both Senators Hillary Clinton and John McCain voted for funds authorizing President Bush to begin the Iraq war.
When Barack Obama decided to run for president, unlike Hillary Clinton and John McCain, he made the significant decision that he would not accept campaign contributions from lobbyists, special interests, and political action committees. It was Barack Obama's judgment that it would be very much preferable for the next President of the United States to be elected by the American people without the distorting influence of the money peddlers in Washington.
Suppose the 44th President of the United States is someone who, among many other things, has refused to accept campaign contributions from special interests, political action committees, and lobbyists, but has financed his campaign solely from the contributions of people to whom he is accountable.
Furthermore, suppose this idea of raising money for political campaigns solely from the voters to whom the candidate is accountable sits so well with the American people that they come to expect that future presidential candidates as well as candidates for other offices such for the US Senate and House of Representatives will do as Barack Obama has done. What if candidates who continue to accept campaign contributions from special interests, political action committees, and lobbyists find it increasingly difficult to get elected?
That's the kind of change that Barack Obama represents which concerns so many in Washington who don't seem eager for the American people to reclaim their democracy from the influence of special interests, political action committees, and lobbyists, the Washington money peddlers who currently arrange to provide huge amounts of financial support to political candidates whom they believe have a good chance of winning, and whom they can then "work with" later on.
This election is not about whether you happen to be a woman or a man, or whether your father happens to be or to have been a black man or a white man, an Asian or a Hispanic. This election is about the future of our country.
We are at a historic moment in America. Barack Obama is a very special candidate for president who can bring about significant changes in Washington and help ordinary Americans begin reclaiming their democracy.
Both the Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, and Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey Jr. know this and have recently endorsed Senator Barack Obama, recognizing Obama's integrity, intelligence, and the strong leadership he can provide as president.
It is time for voters in Pennsylvania and in all of the other states soon to vote in presidential primary elections to stand up and be counted. It's time for ordinary Americans to begin the process of reclaiming American democracy by voting for Barack Obama.

I'm not seeing any problem with an elected official following the dictates of his constituents! In our representative democracy, thats the way things are supposed to work. These people are elected to represent our views, values and interests, and if they fail to do so, they should be voted out of office!

I just wish everyone could understand that and get past the black and white everyone needs to focus on the candidates platform and voting record that will tell alot about a person. Also you should stay away from people that say one thing and do the exact opposite.

First..he's supported Obama's campaign

Second, this is more than a casual acquaintance. Obama and Ayers served together on the board of the Woods Fund. Did Obama and Ayers do more than simply sit side-by-side? Did they steer money to favored groups? Those are questions that journalists not bowing at the feet of the Obama god need to ask.

At a minimun this reminds us that there is a pattern of bad judgment by Obama. He goes in on a land deal with Tony Rezko even though he knows Rezko is a target of a Federal investigation. And his explanation? A mistake in judgment. Now this. Anyone thinking of running for President should know they cannot take money from a terrorist and they cannot serve on a board with a terrorist. Period. But this simple lesson apparently escapes the brilliant constitutional law professor.

To get an idea of Billary's duplicity, all you need to do is look back in time a bit to the NH primarys. Was it not a disgusting display for her to conveniently turn on the waterworks in a cynical ploy to garner sympathy from New Hampshire voters ? (And that's after all her talk about how America needed tough, firm leadership)

It was at that point I made the decision to swing my vote to Barack Obama. All her ensuing lies & malicious attacks just reinforced that decision. Did she REALLY think we would buy her lie that she 'mis-spoke' that her and her daughter had to "Scramble for cover' when visiting Serbia years back ? One does not repeat the same lie time and time again...and only backtrack when video evidence of that lie emerges !

Hillary and Bill promised us universal health care when he was in office, and then traded that away for republican support of a 'crime bill'. And she's about to do that again with her new 'proposal' to put 50,000 more cops on the street nation-wide. America doesn't need more cops to 'police' us. Give us GOOD jobs, a means to put a roof over our children's heads, and food in their bellies.....we have that, we won't need to commit crimes !

Americans like myself have had enough of politicians lying to us to steal our vote, and then forgetting about us afterwards to pursue their own agendas and to enrich themselves at the taxpayer's expense. Hillary is of that 'old-school' brand of politician, just more of the same. We don't need anymore of that.

You might think me a 'liberal upscale democrat' that is known to support Barack Obama.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

I am a blue collar, Catholic, middle-income, white male--- REPUBLICAN !

And A Hillary constituent from upstate NY.

Okay, well, here's my opinion: Clinton can't be president, at least not this time. Her window passed sometime in February, or at the latest when she failed to make a delegate comeback on 3/4. She just can't get the votes; the remaining portion of the primary electorate is too small. If she is somehow nominated (unlikely), the party will splinter, and McCain will sweep. So the focus now for Democrats, or anyone left of center, should be on getting Obama elected. The Hillary vs. Barack stuff was exciting for a while but it has to die out now. People need to stop seeing it as Clinton vs. Obama, and start seeing it as Obama vs. McCain, because that's the only way that McCain can lose (unless Al Gore gets nominated under some crazy circumstances, which is a pretty long shot).

If you don't know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering...

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don't die from. And I could go on, and on...

Gas prices are approaching $4 a gallon, food prices are increasing by double digits, we're in a WAR and don't know the reason why and no one is asking the WHY. America needs a change of directions I don't think we'll ever have a perfect president, because human beings are not perfect, but we need someone to represent the PEOPLE. People must take charge of the government. These are things that all Americans can agree upon. Americans are putting so much energy in Rep & Dem that the people are being forgotten. This is a really sad sight to see. I've noticed that as some of the Clinton supporters on blogs are becoming more and more vicious and laying down some of the weakest and imaginative critisisms, the more apparent it becomes that Hilary cannot win the nomination. This is starting to smell like defeatism. The final bell will toll when they start turning on each other, dem party and even the Clintons in their canbalistic rage.

The really worrying thing about all of this is having followed the campaign very closely from the beginning and forming my own opinions from the evidence (not from FOX news etc.), Obama is clearly the better candidate. I'm amazed at how blind people are between the simple choice between good and evil. These two candidates have two very contrasting styles. People who want a president like Hilary clearly want things to carry on as they are, and that is unacceptable in todays global dynamics.

As Bush enjoys the gas prices going up with his family's Carlyle Groups stake in the OIL MARKET with the Bin Laden's. It's no wonder he won't release the OIL RESERVES to stem off OIL GAUGE'S by hedge funds and the Commodities market. Bush is making millions a day as the prices soar.

When ask in public about gas prices hitting $4 dollars. He said where, laughed and said that's news to me.

That alone let's me know that he has a huge stake in the OIL increases.

Bush will never hunt or Capture Osama Bin Laden.

He would never kill a family member of the family that he is the closest too in the Middle East and are business partners.

Mccain knows this and Mccain will never hunt down Bin Laden..

Hillary won't go after Osama because Bill's close ties with the Dubai Sheikhs who are in bed with the Bin Laden's also..

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. It didn't work because she never had a real job or didn't know Congress like Obama does.

:-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don't die from. And I could go on, and on...

McCain is a war hero. Whether you agree with war or not he served his country. Can you say the same? By the way I am not suggesting that you must fight in a war to serve your county but you have to respect the man for what he did. He had almost every bone in his body broken and he still would not tell the enemy what they wanted. That's to be admired. Another thing is the man is a straight shooter he does what he says and says what he does. NOT LIKE THE OTHER TWO CHOICES. No matter if your a democrat or a republican Mcain is the way to go

Wow, hopefully Clinton's supporters are putting some effort in somewhere other than the online blogging world!

Don't you realize that most people who look at these boards have a solid idea of which candidate they support?

I've never heard one person say... "I was thinking of voting for Barack Obama, but then I saw this post in all caps on a blog, some random accusations without any actual support, and damned if I'm not voting for Hillary now!"

The frantic pace of Hillary supporters on this blog is just the wheels spinning in place of supporters who know their candidate's days are numbered.

Mccain was never a War Hero!! WTF!!

He went to bomb innocent people for a war that was not ours to begin with. Moron's and small minds do think alike I see.

Mccain was a prisoner of WAR because we the President left his arse there while his father let him sit there and get better. Mccain was to damn stupid to say "my father war a commander".
Once his capture found out who his father was, they let him go.

GET THE FACT MORONS. THEY ARE OUT THERE..

Mccain was smart back then and he is not that smart now.

MCCAIN was a political puppet that just sat there and went along what ever the republicans voted for.

He's is a natural born follower, NOT A LEADER.

Check his voting record.

Mccain voted for the war because he is a warmonger that got more than 4000 troops killed in this stupid war.

He is will to have more die for selfish damn reasons, OIL!!

Saddam was hurting his own people. We should have bombed SADDAM not his people.

Mccain and his endorsement of his Pastor Hagee and racist Rod Parsley will come to the forefront if he goes up against Obama..

OBAMA will surely take of the gloves against MCCAIN and destroy his flubs and bad votes in Congress.

Republicans won't know what hit them in the General, if the Dems untite..

One thing you can say for Obama is that his gaffes this far have been minor despite the trumpeting from the media. The most serious Clinton and McCain gaffes have actually been policy related:
Clinton announcing her security umbrella over the mid-east. So if Iran attacks Saudi Arabia we're going to jump in the middle?
McCain floating the idea of replacing the UN. Talk about something that would scuttle global opinion of the US. That's far more radical than anything Obama has proposed.

So while I never count the Republicans out, I think McCain is eminently beatable on the basis of policy, associations with the Bush presidency, flip-flopping, pandering to the right, temperament, support for the Iraq war, age, privatizing social security, healthcare reform and a whole host of other issues that seem to come up on a daily basis. He was a much stronger candidate in 2000.

Tara, Senator Clinton would like you to believe that, "Obama is UNELECTABLE after repeated controversies." She had to admit, though, in the latest "debate" (ambush) that Obama can win. As for the "controversies," I challenge Senator Clinton to answer the following questions honestly:

Do you believe Senator Obama shares the much-publicized controversial views of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright or that he would govern in a way that would reflect those views?

Do you believe Senator Obama approves of Bill Ayers' alleged crimes or (fictional) statements regarding those crimes or that Obama would govern in a way that would reflect those crimes or statements?

Which candidate, Obama or McCain, would be more likely to achieve the results you would like to see achieved if elected president?

Given everything you know about the primary at this point, and given the fact that you are "not dumb," do you concede that Senator Obama has a decent chance (at least 30% odds) of becoming the Democratic nominee for president in 2008?

Given your responses to the above questions, what is your primary reason for repeating and "exploring" these attacks (and others) on Obama?

Our super-delegates are charged with a responsibility of supporting our democratic political party. These are people charged with a responsibility to help the democratic party win the November general election. This is accomplished by casting their delegate votes for a candidate who is most electable.

Our democratic primaries are far from finished. America has not yet decided which of Obama and Clinton is most electable. Those super-delegates who have already cast their vote, are violating their charge and their responsibility. These delegates, who have cast their votes, are not patriotic; they are attempting to impose their personal opinions and their wills upon our American populace. A super-delegate casting his vote before the will of the people has been fully expressed, is wrongful behavior.

I do not appreciate those who attempt render both my opinion and my vote, meaningless.

I continue to be flabbergasted by the support Hillary Clinton continues to get from women. SHRILL, INARTICULATE, IRRATIONAL women, but women nevertheless.

She is a disgrace to women everywhere. She has single-handedly set back the Feminist Movement 50 years.

'Unsex me here' Lady Macbeth, William Shakespeare

She disgusts me. Utterly. My ovaries shudder at the thought of her as leader of the free world.

But if the shrill harridans who support her do so out of gender-loyalty, what kind of MAN supports her? Certainly not the chivalrous kind because a 'gentle' man will be utterly turned off by her behaviour.

Feminism is not about out-manning men, its about being a woman, totally, utterly, completely. And that includes being a lady, showing a softer, gentler side.

Women can save the world. But not if we try to be harder than men. Not if we do what HIllary Clinton is doing.

She should be ashamed. As a woman, I recoil!

An important distinction needs to be made:

There is nothing wrong with saying things that are negative, as long as they are TRUE. For some reason the press can not distinguish between truth and half-truth or false innuendo (e.g. the "bitter" non-controversy, and Clinton's refusal to categorically deny that Obama is not Christian but Muslim). We all know what is really going on here - it is not defensible. Anyone who can think for themselves knows Clinton was fear-mongering to a certain demographic.

When candidates are throwing around half-truths, the voters know in their hearts what is going on. Obama speaks the truth, and people recognize that. So stop worrying about "negative", and focus on the issues and the truth. Go Obama!

Posted by: Brian | April 21, 2008 12:15 PM | Report abuse

The Times-Tribune -- which serves the hometown of Clinton's late father, Hugh Rodham -- has emerged as perhaps the state's most passionately pro-Obama newspaper.

After Obama said he "had detected bitterness among small-town voters in the Midwest and Pennsylvania, due to the loss of good jobs and resulting poor economic conditions that had made them bitter and caused them to rally around issues concerning guns and religion," the newspaper noted, "Mrs. Clinton and her minions say this is elitism on the part of Mr. Obama -- you know, elitism by the candidate raised by a single mother and his grandparents who excelled at prestigious universities to which he had gained admission on merit.

Elitism by the guy who entered politics through the door of social service and civic activism in some of the poorest neighborhoods in Chicago."

In fact, the Scranton paper's response to the whole controversy over Obama's "bitter" comment has been far more pointed -- and far smarter -- than most national news coverage of the dust up.

"Many of the small-town voters to whom he referred are angry that the manufacturing jobs to which they used to have access no longer are available. Many of them are worried because, largely due to the preceding circumstance, they don't have health insurance. Those who do have health insurance are dismayed because the premiums erode more and more of their income.

They're angry at the gas pump as they see the dollar meter race ahead as the gallon meter crawls. They're angry at the supermarket as food prices inexorably climb. They're angrier still as the nation borrows hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars for a war that does not have any clear direction, much less a clear end in sight. They're upset because many of their college-age students will have even more trouble financing their education amid the credit crisis. Many of those voters don't have enough income to save anything for retirement beyond what they expect from Social Security, which itself is approaching a crisis," declares a Times-Tribune editorial.

"As amazing as it may seem, Mr. Obama seems to have concluded that things like that can lead to bitterness. His mistake, of course, was saying so. The rules call for him to see only what's right, everywhere he goes, while fixing what's wrong. What candidates are supposed to do, and what they too often do, is declare the genius of the local folk and then go to Harrisburg and Washington to wield the power of the government in favor of narrow interests that work contrary to the interests of those local folk. Sure, my tax bill will result in your job going to Malaysia, but check out my patriotic lapel pin."

People don't want leaders who aren't independent thinkers. And they won't vote for them. So thinking of voters. Hundreds of thousands of people have registered to vote that haven't voted in many years, if ever. Do these politicians imagine these voters will remain politically involved and active. Once they don't care anymore, who will still remain to vote? Voters who have always valued the privilege. Voters who think every vote should count. And will they be re-electing these officials?

What I find not hilariously funny, but poignantly pathetic, is how the voters who claim to be voting for peace are so non-peaceful, but blatantly mean-spirited.

With that said...Vet all you want. Does Obama look concerned (picture of him "brushing his shoulder off"). To Yael:

With all due respect, people are less than sweet and peaceful these days because much is at stake, injustice demands outrage, and Hillary Clinton has America's blood boiling!

While she has seemingly accepted Sen. Harry Thomas Jr's switch to Obama, she has attacked others as being "disloyal." Yet what I find most telling is that SO MANY former Clinton associates, advisers, and supporters now favor Obama.

Clinton can't deal with this and goes on the attack (to the point of belittling Obama supporters as "naive" and smearing the "moveon" volunteers). Clearly, she will say anything, do anything, and blame anybody for her lackluster performances! Insulting the supporters of the one candidate who can expand the Democratic Party (the only way to win in November) and picking a fight with the "Democratic Activist Base" is no way to win a general election!!! Just think, what if John McCain had blamed CPAC for costing him votes by "bullying" his supporters? Has Hillary Clinton lost her mind??? The truth is that she CHASED AFTER the "moveon" endorsement, but when she lost it, she turned on them!

If voters can't see by now that Hillary Clinton is a self-deluded, egomaniacal, self-serving, opportunistic, pathologically dishonest cheat, THEY'VE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK for the past 15-20 years!

Yes, she has her fans, but for everyone who likes her, 10 more can't stand the sight/sound of her. I'm not being mean; I'm just speaking the cold, hard truth. SHE IS DESPERATE WITH A CAPITAL "D" and doing what she does best - fighting dirty. American is sick of it, and that's why she is LOSING!!!

Her campaign has been a joke, and her years spent "serving the public" have been even worse! She is no more "experienced" than Barack Obama (in fact, he has MORE legislative experience than she has) and her associations are far worse than his! No one gets to where these people are by only associating with girl scouts. Read up on PETER PAUL!!!

As for her "experience", it's all a big disgrace...

HILLARY CLINTON AS FIRST LADY / NY SENATOR:
Hillary Clinton often says that she should be President because of her experience, including 8 years as First Lady and 6 as NY Senator. This is her record for that period of time:

As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill Bradley and Patrick Moynihan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that she would 'demonize' anyone who opposed it. But she couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her OWN PARTY at the time! (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate, due in part to her nasty and divisive tactics.)

Hillary assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her first two recommendations, Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood, were forced to withdraw their names from consideration. She then chose Janet Reno. Janet Reno has since been described by Bill Clinton as 'my worst mistake.'

Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission. When Guanier's radical views became known, her name had to be withdrawn.

Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign!

Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies ("Filegate") and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. FBI agent Dennis Sculimbrene confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in 1996, both the drug use and Hillary's involvement in hiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office, after serving 7 presidents for over thirty years.

In order to open "slots" in the White House for her friends the Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for 'gross mismanagement' and their reputations ruined. After a 30-month investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with any crime whatsoever (mixing personal money with White House funds when he cashed checks). The jury acquitted him in less than 2 hours.

Another of Hillary's assumed duties was directing her husband's infidelity and scandal defense. Among her decisions:
1. She urged her husband NOT to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit.
2. She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor.
3. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting to his extramarital affairs.
4. Bill had to settle with Paula Jones after all. And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury.
5. And Bill was impeached by the House.
6. AND HILLARY ALMOST GOT HERSELF INDICTED FOR PERJURY AND OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE (WHICH SHE AVOIDED MOSTLY BECAUSE SHE REPEATED, "I DO NOT RECALL," "I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION, AND "I DON'T KNOW" 56 TIMES UNDER OATH).

*Many believe that the aforementioned scandals were, in part, what led to the up rise of the conservative evangelical Republican "Christian Right", which has hijacked our country for the past 8 years, cramming bad policy down our throats under the guise of "conservative Christian values" as a backlash against the embarrassing antics of the Clintons.

Hillary decided to run for the Senate in a state where she had never lived before simply because she thought it would be her best chance at winning.

Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee, to get financial support.

Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork she had STOLEN!!!

In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary (as usual) played the 'woman card' by portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully who was picking on her. This is one reason she is so frustrated with her Presidential Campaign right now. She can't cry ''POOR ME' against Barack Obama. He's black and the farthest thing from a bully. But she and her surrogates CAN try to make us women feel like traitors if we do not vote for her!

Hillary's husband further protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary's correspondence and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.)

As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed NO MAJOR LEGISLATION! She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.

Hillary's one notable vote: SUPPORTING THE PLAN TO INVADE IRAQ, which she has since disavowed and twisted, but refuses to admit was a mistake. Barack Obama, however, is the only '08 Democratic Presidential Candidate who had the good judgment to oppose the war from day one! And yes, that matters to Democratic voters!

It has, however, become difficult to differentiate between McHillary and McCaine, as Hillary has adopted the Republican Rovian slash-and-burn tactics and is using them to bash her fellow Democrat. The fact that she states ONLY she and McCain had crossed the threshhold to the position of Commander and Chief, and that Senator Obama only brought a speech", is a valid reason for the Democrats to NOT vote for her. Furthermore, her fraudulant comments regarding coming under "sniperfire" in Bosnia greatly insulted our military folks who actually do come on sniperfire and all other forms of deadly attacks in Iraq, a war she helped propel, and in Afganistan. She has literally stomped and spit on the graves of our 4000+ and counting lost servicemen and servicewomen! And she has spit in the faces of the thousands upon thousands of injured and severely injured men and women who have fought and are fighting those wars!! She further spit on and insulted our servicemen and servicewomen when she weant on the Jay Leno Show, lauging and joking "because I got caught in sniperfire"!! This hack of a woman is dispicable!! These shameful and demeaning comments MUST DISQUALIFY HER FROM THE STATUS OF COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF!!

I am referring to the folks who think they are going to bring about peace, when they don't even seek it within themselves, yet seek to provoke the opposite in others.

I would be glad to reply to your cut and pasted remarks. But since they are so clearly just that, and I actually cannot spend hours on just one reply at the moment, I will assure you that independent thinking, inner peace, and dealing in fact and not illusion will create a better world, and a more peaceful one.

face reality and stop demanding hillary (or obama) drop out. this party is already divided and nothing now can unite it. obama created this campaign of hate. now he and you and the democratic party is reaping what they sowed.

All you intelligent Obama supporters voting for 'CHANGE' do you have a list specific changes he is proposing to you. If you have a list can you please publish it for me or is it just the word 'CHANGE' that impresses you. You all know that change can be good change and also can be bad change.
So here is what I think: as President he probably will spread the same teachings that he received from his Pastor. His Pastor was his mentor and advisor for 20 long years and you can not erase your mentor and advisors's teachings which are instilled in you for 20 years although controversial in just few months, they will stay with you forever. Obama has proved that again and again by not denouncing his Pastor and also supporting the church by donating money and his time.
Next, he will appoint people with qualities like Rezko, Ayers and Wright in his cabinet. Because with his associations you can tell what traits in a person attract him.
And next, his arrogant personality will persuade him to make speeches where he will make remarks like 'bitter Americans' or like his wife's remarks 'proud of America now' and demean people.
And lastly, spending money donated by people like water on primary elections. He is actually buying people's votes. If he is that good then why is wasting money and buying voters? He should win the primaries without spending any money.
I thought our country is in recession then how is Obama spending all that money? I know all big companies.

Clinton supporters can spam and spew the most ludicrous non sequiturs but it doesn't change the fact that she cannot and will not win the nomination. All the pile-on attacks have not done much damage to Obama but Clinton's ratings and trust issues are sinking, and the momentum of superdelegates is toward Obama and away from Clinton.

So rant, rave and spew but you're not changing facts on the ground. I assume that once Clinton has been compelled to face the facts and drops out, you will all bolt to the Republican party so you can ensure the rest of us of four more years in Iraq, continued loss in Afghanistan, a new war with Iran, MORE tax cuts for rich corporations, and NO solution to the health care insurance crisis that is killing ordinary Americans.

Thanks for nuthin'

I'm a Florida resident who is having to endure my own party not counting my vote (Primary). How can you ignore a state with such a large population?

I cannot vote for OBama. Great Speaker, no substance. Everyone forgets he plays the game too! His voting "present" while in the Illinois legislature is a prime example.

I'm a Clinton backer. I prefer a centrist to a Neville Chamberlin. I could not trust this man to lead us in war. Especially a war against a Muslim nation. Yes super liberals war does happen, and can be thrust upon an otherwise peaceful nation.

I will vote for McCain if Obama is the Democratic candidate. Party be damned!! I vote for the best candidate not the best party.

And Mr. Dean, the ultimate super liberal, better figure out a way to count the Florida and Michigan primary votes as cast.. or you will have some swing states swinging the other way..

Just in case anyone has missed what has transpired: "unelectable" has become code for the racist argument that America will not elect a black man as President. Hillary is playing to the basest motivations of voters by continually using this argument. Why would ANY Democrat want to stand for that? She has poisoned this race and disgraced the party.

The first women to run for president

Made headlines when she cried

Was vilified when she fought

Was hated for being who she was

The first woman to run for president

Had scars from being too tough and too weak

Was crucified in the media

Was incessantly pushed to drop out

The first women to run for president

Showed the courage of a million men

Carried the dreams of every woman

Carried the heart of every mother

The first woman to run for president

Stood tall when they attacked

Never gave up on any child

Never gave in to any defeat

And now those who called her by another name

Call her Madame President today

Still she works for everyone

Still she fights for all

The first woman to run for president

Can iron a shirt and take 3am calls

Perhaps Mr. Thomas can convince Sen. Kennedy, Sen. Kerry and Gov. Richardson to do the same as MA and NM were also won by Sen. Hillary Clinton. If he cannot convince those three to endorse Hillary, then perhaps Mr. Thomas should stick to his original endorsement and back Hillary. What is the point of having a superdelegate if they cannot think for themselves.

Apparently, the same 10% of voters who still think Obama is a Muslim also think he's black.

He's a reality check...Obama is mixed race! So, how can someone whose half-white be as anti-white as you claim he is? Oh, that's right...logic is lost on you. The only argument you have is formed off Hillary's contradictory, ridiculous talking points. Try thinking for yourself, morons.

I'm going to weigh in here as a Republican. In my personal opinion it would be much more to our advantage to run against Hillary than Obama. Being involved locally in the Republican party here in Oregon...we have a huge problem...ZERO motivation...ZERO excitement about our nominee. What we need is a rallying point...we have none so far!

Nothing would rally the Republican base more than Hillary. If you Dems don't get that and elect Hitlery...we WILL win. Nothing will move the Republican base into action and the voting booths more than the sheer hatred we have for the name Clinton and especially that witch Hitlery. On the other hand Obama is more scary for us. He actually motivates the people and has a huge grassroots support. Dem Hillary supporters will still in most cases vote Dem and the energy and new voters Obama has brought in at this time dwarfs our Republican numbers.

It is not very easy to be excited by McCain for conservatives. We could and WILL win on hate against Hillary. Even a lot of Dems hate her and would probably vote for our douche of a candidate that is half liberal...McCain.

Just a point of view from Republican for what it is worth.

Nobama sez: "OBAMA GETS EXPOSED!! THANK YOU TALK RADIO AND FOX NEWS FOR BRINGING UP OBAMA'S RELATIONSHIP WITH TERRORIST WILLIAM AYERS AND THE RACIST, TERRORIST SUPPORTING REVEREND WRIGHT FOR THE PAST YEAR."

First of all, the Obama-Ayres connection was not initially made by Fox News OR Talk Radio. It was a viral campaign that began in the Clinton camp, just as the Clinton camp deliberately circulated the infamous "Obama is a secret Muslim" viral smear by leaking it to "Insight" which didn't bother doing any fact checking before spewing it out into the world as gospel truth...and at least 15% of Americans are actually stupid enough to still believe it even though it's been completely refuted.

How about Clinton's relationship with an openly Communist left wing law firm (Treuhaft) in the Bay Area which was heavily involved in defending Black Panthers, including Huey Newton and Angela Davis. Clinton deliberately sought out that particular law firm for an internship back in the days when William Ayres was swaggering around with the Weathermen (when Obama was all of 8 years old).

http://www2.nysun.com/article/66933

And since Clinton is taking so much credit for so many things her husband did as president, how about those two weathermen pardons? What was her role in that?

And if serving on a board with someone makes you guilty by association of everything that person ever did in their entire lives, then what about Clinton's service on the board of Walmart at the peak of Walmart's anti-worker and often illegal labor practices?

There's plenty of dirt to go around, Nobama, and Clinton has accumulated far more dirty associations over a much longer period of time with criminals, sleazeballs and traitors like Sandy Berger who was the FIRST National Security Advisor ever convicted of stealing and destroying classified national security documents...Hillary rewarded Berger by adding him to her National Security advisory team, even after he was convicted.

You are obviously a product of the No Child Left Behind (or No Child Left a Dime) Act passed by Bush. You are the idiot. You need to read every word I said. I never said anything about blacks and rape. How dare you inject such a racial comment like that into this blog! Shame on you! What I said was that if a person is exposed to 20 years of racial rhetoric, then a person must believe it and accept it as well. If Obama and his wife were appalled by Wright's words, then they should have left the church. Your remark is uncalled for and typical of someone who is ignorant and filled with the same racial hatred and anger as Wright. This just proves that you too are a racist.

Great it is about time Sen.Kennedy, Sen. Kerry and Gov. Richarson to change their votes in Hillary's favor since she won the popular vote in MA and NM or in their case the RULES are different because no matter what their votes have be for Obama, Let see what other rules they come up with, so they don't have to change to Senator Clinton. By the way where are you Sen. Kennedy and what do you think about your golden boy and his relationship with Rev Wright?, about lying about when his father came to America and when he meet Obama's mother?. According to Obama's book his father meet his mother 4 years after Barack was born. How in earth this could it happen?. How about the fact that Obama's mother was a communist and a Marxist and had a deep feeling of hate against the United. States

Obama needs to tell us more about his relationship with Ayers. It's important because voters might well wonder whether that relationship, coupled with Obama's longtime relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is just the beginning of a pattern, a pattern in which Obama seems quite comfortable with people who really, really, really don't like the United States of America.
Huffington Post-William Ayers,There has been sudden information linking Obama to a former member of the radical Weathermen Underground group that claimed responsibility for a dozen bombings between 1970 and 1974. The former Weatherman, William Ayers, told the New York Times. I don't regret setting bombs...I feel we didn't do enough. Obama and Ayers were members of the board between 92-02. In addition, Ayers contributed to Obama's election to the Senate. They lived within a few blocks of each other in the trendy Hyde Park section of Chicago and moved in the same liberal-progressive circles. Larry Johnson, a former counterterrorism official at the CIA and the State Department, predicts Republicans would seize on the Ayers case, and again raises questions about Obama's judgment. WHERES MAINSTREAM MEDIA LIKE CNN & MSNBC WHY ARE THEY HIDING THIS MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM VOTERS??

FEDERAL COURT | The Obamas lied about attending bash for Iraqi crook Nadhmi Auchi. BY NATASHA KORECKI, CHRIS FUSCO AND TIM NOVAK

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama was again drawn into Tony Rezko's corruption trial when the prosecution's star witness placed Obama at a party for an Iraqi-born billionaire who was barred entry to the United States. Stuart Levine testified under cross-examination that Obama and his wife, Michelle, attended the reception for Nadhmi Auchi.

An Obama connection court testimony have linked presidential hopeful Barack Obama with Iraqi-born billionaire Nadhmi Auchi and Rezko. Obama met Middle Eastern bankers at the Four Seasons hotel in Chicago hosted by Rezko, who was courting potential investors for a 62-acre South Loop development. Auchi later took control of that project. Later Auchi attended a dinner party at Rezko's Wilmette mansion. Obama and his wife, Michelle, also were there, according to federal testimony at Rezko's corruption trial. The Obama campaign's responsed that Senator and Mrs. Obama have no recollection of attending the event.

Want to talk Hillary obstacles?

1) Rev. Wright/Ayers put together is nothing next to the Clinton's White Houe "Guru" Michael Lerner, who is now a Rabbi, thanks to the CLintons. Before that, he founded the SLF who merged with the Weather Underground, who Clinton pardoned on his exit from the WH.

2) Article from 2006: Hillary needs to remake herself from pro-war to anti-war because a Grass roots movement is coming and they want no more war. Here's an except from that article:

Clinton's foreseeable game plan is to eventually confront antiwar activists head-on as she portrays herself as a strong-on-defense Newer-Than-New Democrat. Two years from now, if she has the nomination cinched, she'll be eager to ratchet up her strategy of playing to the gallery of corporate-media journalists by presenting herself as a centrist alternative to both the Republican Party's right wing and the Democratic Party's "special interests" (a.k.a., the party's base).

But first Hillary Clinton would need to win enough delegates to become the party's presidential nominee. To that end, she'll try to finesse and blur the war issue in hopes that her hawkish position won't rub too many Democratic primary voters the wrong way.

It's not going to be easy. What happened at the Take Back America conference the other day was mild compared to what Hillary Clinton has coming in primary and caucus battleground states once the presidential campaign begins in earnest. And Clinton may encounter unexpected difficulties as her pro-war reputation grows.

If Hillary Clinton thinks she can postpone an all-out confrontation with the antiwar movement until a time and place of her tactical choosing, she's going to be very disappointed. And at the end of her 2008 quest, Clinton may discover that she has triangulated herself right out of the nomination.

Hillary has more personalities than hair-dos. She's a rabid dog that needs to get put down. Plain and simple.

Let's take back America from these looters and pirates.

Obama 08!

This is getting ridiculous. The Clinton supporters and the hidden Republicans are trying and succeeding in generating so much hot air, that no one is able to stay focused on the reality of the fundamentals. The truth is that Obama was born to lead America at this time. The important question is - will America take up this generous and much needed opportunity?

Hillary can't win on the issues, she can't win on the numbers no matter how you slice it and she is not a strong leader. She is the much more vulnerable to lose to McCain. She does not represent any kind of comparable experience in the area where she claims an advantage - security and war. Just where does she have any background in this? It is none existent except for the Bosnia sniper fire.

The only way for the Democrats to win in November is based on the dramatic change Obama is seeking and that is critical to America's future.

Hillary's only possible way to the nomination is by character assassination. Unfortunately, Obama has good character and she can't dredge up any real issues (no Wright and Rezko and a slip of the tongue about guns and religion that is based in truth are not real issues). So she has started with chatter and guilt by association. Now this gives license to the fools, the bigots and those afraid of change and to figuratively blind supporters to parrot obtuse connections whether they even exist or not and say Obama and his wife are unpatriotic. And when sensible people try to argue back against this nonesense, then of course, they are brought down to the gutter and inadvertently begin to give credence to such foolish nonesense. Just look at the insane discussions and Rovian flips that are going on about who is playing the race card.

To the several that are trying to have a sensible discourse, you should know that the likes of jacksmith, LYNN PARKER and others here, post ad naseuum everywhere. So do the ones with no name. No doubt to confuse people, defuse your valuable energy and to lower the level of discourse to that of quacks, bigots and hate mongers. This suits the purposes of the Republicans and Hillary's machine quite well. Helps them to divide and conquer for their own personal ends.

Make no mistake America will get what it deserves. If it deserves better, it will elect Obama - it certainly can if it wishes. If it does not, it will get one of the other available status quo options. Americans must look at the prospects for America and Americans as a whole nation. It can be greater than the sum of its parts. Right now it is much less and a race won on division will reduce it further.

Personally, I believe with much confidence that the extended era of confusion, hate and fear is drawing to a close. And, I believe America will have the courage to vote for a new politics, a new discourse and a new future based on truth, justice and the real American dream.
