Teachers Sign Off on Firing of Oyster Principal

Teachers at Oyster-Adams Bilingual School have weighed in on Chancellor Michelle A Rhee's firing of principal Marta Guzman. And the thrust of their message is: No problem.
A statement sent to the parents' listserve a few days ago from the Oyster-Adams' "School Chapter Advisory Committee" (SCAC), an elected body representing the teachers, didn't elaborate. But its meaning was clear:
"The SCAC supports the Chancellor's decision to not renew Sra. Guzman's contract. We are confident that the decision was not based on racism but on performance. The Oyster-Adams teachers are committed to ensuring that the 38-year dual-language program will thrive. We look forward to having the support and leadership of a new principal."
Some parents at the school were upset by the firing and Rhee met with them earlier this week.
