In the Mayor's Shadow

(David Nakamura - TWP)

School officials and construction workers took to the shade in today's 90-degree heat as Mayor Fenty held a news conference to announce the kick off of the summer "buff and scrub" program. About 35 schools will get cosmetic makeovers this summer in the program, in which developers chip in between $10,000 and $15,000 per building. Last year, 54 schools were included, and developers kicked in $1.2 million, but turnout from the private sector in the program was down this year as the Post reported a few weeks ago.
