Fenty: The Un-Reformer?
Labor groups are distributing a flyer at the Democratic National Convention that criticizes Mayor Adrian M. Fenty's relationship with local union workers, the D.C. Council and community groups, according to a press release sent out by the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO.
Calling him "the un-reformer" in bold type, the flyer reads "D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty has become the national poster child for reforming urban schools and streamlining city government. But the image-conscious Fenty is not the reform whiz kid. Far from it."
The flyer takes a dig at the summer youth program debacle and says he is "a budget-shattering, union-busting, promise-breaking political boss."
Metropolitan Washington Council president Joslyn N. Williams said in the release, "As we gear up to elect Barack Obama President and bring the winds of change to the White House in November, we are deeply disappointed that the Mayor of our nation's capital has refused to meet with us, to talk with us, and to work with us to solve the District's many challenges."
According to the release, the unions are giving the flyers to state delegations. D.C. delegates were greeted with the flyer at their morning breakfast; the mayor, who is stayinig at a different hotel, did not show up.

Just hoping that the WP will give all a balanced and fair look at both sides, the administration and public/private unions. It would only be right..... Let the DC residents and nation know the truth..

It is about time unions in this city hit Fenty to the chin for his anti union ways.

Sounds about right, especially after Sunday's involvement on an ati-union and anti-teacher forum run by a Wall-Street group.
