SEIU Sticks With Incumbents
The State Council of the Service Employees International Union announced endorsements today of Council members Yvette M. Alexander (D-Ward 7), Marion Barry (D-Ward 8), Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4) and Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) in their re-election bids.
In a media release, Jaime Contreras, state council president and Capital Area director of Local 32BJ, said the state council was supporting the incumbents based on their backing of the Accrued Sick & Safe Leave Act, which makes the District the second city in the country to mandate paid sick days.
