From the Floor: We Have Arrived at Invesco!
Jeff Richardson is the Vice Chair of the District's Democratic Party. He will be attending the Democratic National Convention and will be blogging for D.C. Wire from Denver.
I am here, I am here, Thank God, I am here. After an amazing week at the Pepsi Center, the Democratic Party, in full unity and representation, has emerged at Mile High stadium to honor the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King's legendary "I Have a Dream" speech. We're honoring it with the nomination acceptance speech of Sen. Barack Obama.
After standing in line and walking around corners, bends, and up hill, we are here to say, "Yes We Can" to the dream of making America a better place for all and a respected partner to the world community.
I must say that at first I was not happy. I said this line is too long, this is too much, then I arrived at the steps of one of former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb's geat contributions to the city of Denver, Mile High Stadium.
What stood out to me most was that while the line was long and the sun hot, there were few compaints in the crowd. People were for the most part excited and eager to arrive, and arrive we have.
