Political Activist Endorses Silverman
Political activist Peter Rosenstein, who publicly chided Council member Jack Evans for switching his support from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama in May, is endorsing Evans's opponent in Tuesday's Democratic primary.
The campaign of Cary Silverman, who is challenging Evans for his Ward 2 council seat, issued a press release about the endorsement today.
In the release, Rosenstein, who has advised Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and former Mayor Anthony A. Williams, says he respects Evans's veteran status on the council as a 17-year incumbent. "But I have come to the conclusion that it is time for a change and that the issues facing our City need new insight and we need some new blood with new ways of doing things on the Council," he said in the release.
Meanwhile, Evans has endorsements from Fenty and Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray. He also has the endorsement of a dozen different labor unions, business groups and political action committees in the city though Silverman has picked up the nod of the DC Latino PAC.
