Obama and McCain Talk District Schools
If you watched the debate between Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama, and if you hung in there to the end, you would have seen our own Washington, D.C., school system take center stage. The candidates were debating charters and vouchers. The District moment was a mixed bag, as the school system was held up as being in bad shape, but Chancellor Michelle Rhee and Mayor Adrian M. Fenty did get a shoutout from Obama.
