Strauss Mum on Arrest

David A Nakamura

The Washington City Paper broke the news on its City Desk blog that D.C. Shadow Senator Paul Strauss, who is running for re-election, was arrested for drunk driving Oct. 1. According to City Paper, "The arrest took place on the 2000 block of Calvert Street NW, on or near the Duke Ellington Bridge between Woodley Park and Adams Morgan."

D.C. Wire's Hamil R. Harris spoke with Strauss by phone this afternoon.

"I can't comment at this time because it is pendng in court, but I do expect that this matter will be resolved favorably in court," Strauss said.

Even though he refused to talk about his case, he did defend his record.

"I have worked hard to build this into a credible position and to build relations on Capitol Hill on behalf of the citizens of the District of Columbia," he said. "We are going to campaign in every ward in the city just like we have in every election."

But what would Hayden think?

Time for this clown to go away. He’s an embarrassment. He’s accomplished little beyond some self-promotion and every time I’ve seen or worked with him he’s been unprepared and ineffective. And then tries to bluster his way out by somehow implying that he’s a senator.

Take a hike Paul!

I could never figure out what-- if anything-- makes him remarkable. Also, he and his campaign staff seem very stand-offish when they show up in Ward4.
