Fenty Hoping to Show Off Projects Along Anacostia Today
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty is hosting a community fair from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Nationals Park where more than three dozen District agencies, community groups, nonprofits and private companies will be on hand to discuss the development projects of the $8 million Anacostia Waterfront Initiative.
"The Anacostia waterfront presents an incredible opportunity to connect our city, build great neighborhoods, world-class cultural and entertainment destinations and a network of urban waterfront parks," Fenty said in a statement announcing the event.
Participants will be able to take bus tours to several projects. Among the projects is the $2.5 billion Poplar Point, the $1.5 billion Southwest Waterfront, and the $1.4 billion waterfront community being developed along the Anacostia River near the site of what was D.C. General Hospital.
