Barry to Hold Roundtable on Poverty Thursday
Council member Marion Barry, (D-Ward 8) and chair of the committee of housing and urban affairs, has set up a roundtable for 10 a.m. on Thursday at the John A. Wilson Building, room 500, on resolution PR17-1175, the "Sense of the Council in Support of Reducing Poverty in the District of Columbia."
The proposal calls for new, comprehensive budget legislation that takes on poverty. Barry said the proposal is a result of the meetings of the "Poverty Reduction Coalition," a group he set up this year to hold a series of meetings among activists and residents to discuss anti-poverty solutions.
