Inauguration Security Briefing for D.C. Residents

The Washington Convention Center Authority recently issued this announcement for a meeting to inform District residents about road closings and security checkpoints near the convention center:

"U.S. Secret Service & MPD Inaugural Briefing" Thursday January 8, 2009 6:30 pm ~~~ Walter E. Washington Convention Center Meeting Room 102A/B This meeting is an opportunity for you to learn about potential temporary changes to vehicular and pedestrian traffic circulation, security checkpoints and other public safety measures that will be in place on, before and/or after January 20th. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to forward your input to Theresa DuBois, WCCA External Affairs Manager and Liaison to the WCCA Advisory Committee, at tdubois@.... Your comments will be forwarded to U.S. Secret Service for their consideration and response. We appreciate your cooperation, welcome any feedback that you may have and look forward to seeing you on the 8th.

Update 7:40 p.m.: We are told the the briefing is still a go, but the Secret Service will not participate.
