Wilson Building Chatter: Tangherlini In, Gandhi Out?

D.C. Wire went straight to the sources on chatter in the Wilson Building that's been circulating lately: Chief Financial Officer Natwar M. Gandhi would step aside and city administrator Dan Tangherlini would take his place with the nod from Congress, which appoints the fiscal chief.

Both men were amused today. But D.C. Wire did note that their replies were the kind of giggling responses celebrities give when asked about their rocky marriages. Sometimes those responses are accurate. Sometimes, though, months later the public learns that the folks in question been living in separate houses and are, in fact, getting divorced.

Gandhi said, "You'll have to ask him." He later asked, "Where am I going?"

Meanwhile, Tangherlini said, "I don't think Dr. Gandhi is going anywhere....I'm the city administrator."

Is there a no in there anywhere, D.C. Wire asked.

"I think people trade in rumor around here because they're not as busy as others," Tangherlini said.

He thanked D.C. Wire, though, for the "awkward question" and then quoted an old saying, something about "It's good when they're talking about you, and it's bad when they're talking about you."

Didn't the CA nearly wreck the budget at Metro before leaving? That is just a rumor I heard. Is that true? Metro weigh in here.

Cut them both loose. Neither one is trustworthy.
