Be Mayor for a Day: Play the D.C. Budget Game
Calling all D.C. activists, gadflies, political wannabes -- here's your chance to prove you really do know better than Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) and the D.C. Council when it comes to the city's priorities. Try your hand at balancing the city's fiscal 2010 spending plan by playing The Washington Post's D.C. Budget Game!
The rules are simple: You need to close a revenue gap by either increasing revenues through new fees and taxes or cutting spending, which could hamper services. Or you can do a combination of the two, which is what Fenty did in his $5.4 billion budget proposal, released last month.
Good luck, and remember: The city's fiscal health and ability to serve its residents now relies on you.
