Council Votes to Accept Other States' Gay Marriages
The D.C. Council has voted to recognize gay marriages performed in other states on the same day that Vermont became the fourth state to legalize same-sex unions.
Domestic partnerships are already legal in the nation's capital. But yesterday's vote, billed as an important milestone in gay rights, explicitly recognizes relocated gay married couples as married.
The initial vote was 12-0. The unanimous vote sets the stage for future debate on legalizing gay marriage in the District -- and a clash with Congress, which approves the city's laws under Home Rule. The council is expected to take a final vote on the legislation soon.

Anyone starting a betting pool on how long it will take for some Repuke to add a reversing of it as an amendment to some bill?

We'll give you gay rights which aren't mentioned in the Constitution but not gun rights which are.

Wow, there's been a flurry of gay right's progress in the last week! Seems like gay marriage will be legal in the Capitol sooner rather than later.
I'm not optimistic about prop 8. I'm not a legal expert, but constitutional amendments limiting rights of a minority are disgusting and against the spirit of the Constitution. I know the founders probably would not have been comfortable with gay marriage. However, if they were alive today, I bet most of them would be ardent supporters because they recognized the importance of protecting the rights of the minority against the tyranny of the majority.

I am very proud of American people. They are understanding what is a real separation between church and state. I hope this trend continues nation wide

What's wrong with your kids is they have homophobic, nazi parents who teach them hatred.
