Fenty Picks Santos for Deputy Mayor

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty named Valerie Santos deputy mayor today.

Santos replaces Neil O. Albert, who officially took his post as city administrator this past weekend. Santos, 36 and a native of San Francisco, was Albert's chief operating officer.
She called Albert her "mentor" at a news conference about her appointment at the construction site of the new Walker Jones School in Northwest.

She vowed to build on the accomplishments of the deputy mayor's office and said she would also focus on development east of the Anacostia River.

Before joining the deputy mayor's office about two years ago, she was a vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle.

If Albert was her "mentor" don't expect much. Even Marion Barry at his worst managed to appoint and maintain competent City Administrators. Fenty gives us a closet case in a suit who mostly brings an arrogant self entitlement. Collapsing infrastructure, coming soon to your neighborhood.
Marie Johns, phone home!

Great selection Mr. Mayor. She's smart, tough, knows the terrain and cares about the issues. It's a good time for a change in the tone of conversation between the Council and the Deputy Mayor's office (and the Mayor's office for that matter). I hope that she can impress upon the Council the need to roll back their latest handiwork that threatens to put a halt to DC RE development (on top of economic conditions!). Good luck Ms. Santos!

Wake Up Heterosexuals of DC, the District Government is being stacked against you! Wake Up Citizens of the District of Columbia, Mayor Fenty is sending you a message and that is No Citizen in the District is smart enough or trust-worthy enough to hold a DC Government position, basically if your not his friend that you won't be working for him! Mayor Fenty is not to be trusted and his circle of friends can't be trusted either. Also, the circle of yes MEN & WOMEN he brought in to operate the DC Government can't be TRUSTED at all.

How can a City Govern themselves if they keep looking to outsiders? Mark my words the residents will pay extremely and these folks will move on after Fenty has been removed. The key question I have is why the FBI has not hauled Fenty in for questioning yet, because his criminal activity is more and more coming to the surface!

Up from the ranks! In two years! I am sure she is really smart and hard working. But I think that experience has shown that the learning curve takes a little longer to complete than two years. But what do I know? I am just a tax paying voted of the District of the Columbia
