Birthday bashes

Council member Yvette M. Alexander (D-Ward 7) threw a birthday party Thursday night at Reserve, the new hot spot around the corner from The Washington Post, to raise money for her constituent services fund.
The event was held in a small space upstairs, so multimillionaire R. Donahue "Don" Peebles loomed large in his tuxedo, overdressed for the birthday shindig but suitable for another appearance that evening.
Peebles, a potential candidate for mayor, worked the room and posed for D.C. Wire.
And let the party season begin: Council member Harry Thomas Jr. (D-Ward 5) will celebrate his birthday Friday at Love while council Chairman Vincent C. Gray (D), also considering a mayoral bid, will have a birthday bash Tuesday at Beacon Bar and Grille.
