City prepares streets as forecasters predict big snow
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty said crews already are putting down liquid brine in some areas of the city in preparation for this weekend's big snow.
The mayor, who will hold a news conference later Friday about the city's snow plan, said in a brief interview that this weekend will mark the "first full deployment of the '09-'10 season."
A full deployment means more than 300 pieces of equipment will hit the city's streets, said John Lisle, a spokesman for the District Department of Transportation.
He said crews will work 12-hour shifts. To find out if a particular street or intersection has been plowed, check DDOT's mapping Web site.
