New DYRS director

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty has replaced Vince Schiraldi, the departing director of the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, with his chief of staff Marc A. Schindler.

Schiraldi announced in November that he would leave his post to head corrections in New York City.

Schindler, who will serve as interim director, has worked under Schiraldi as chief of staff since 2006.

"Marc Schindler has a good working knowledge of the agency as well as best practices in the field of juvenile justice and youth development," Fenty said in a news release. "And I am confident he will maintain the progress and growth of the agency until a permanent director is in place."
