Candidates' battle for go-go fans continues

The fight for the hearts of go-go fans continues this weekend when three go-go bands throw a kickoff for Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) in Southeast Washington on Sunday.
E.U., featuring Sugar Bear, Junkyard Band and Suttle Thoughts, will join the mayor on stage at the Old Congress Heights School at 2 p.m.
The event follows go-go godfather Chuck Brown's appearance at a well-attended fundraiser for Fenty's chief rival, Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray (D), and a round of boos for Fenty at the funeral of go-go legend Anthony "Little Benny" Harley.
During Memorial Day weekend, Fenty bought time on urban radio stations for ads that featured go-go music. One included an endorsement from Anwan "Big G" Glover of Backyard Band and "The Wire" fame.
