Alexander asks auditor to look at Peaceoholics
Council member Yvette M. Alexander (D-Ward 7) is asking D.C. Auditor Deborah Nichols to conduct an audit of the nonprofit Peaceoholics - the group co-founded by Ronald Moten, who said he stepped down from his duties to help Mayor Adrian M. Fenty's campaign.
Alexander said she is growing increasingly concerned about the city funds being paid to the organization and whether Moten is violating federal laws that limit the political activity of nonprofits. "I'm confused about Moten's role with Peaceoholics. He's actively campaigning for the mayor," she said.
Moten has said he is no longer a salaried director and now serves on the Peaceoholics board without compensation. But when recent media reports surfaced about whether the city was trying to pay Peaceoholics for services, Moten was outspoken on the issue.
Alexander asked Nichols in a letter last week to give her a preliminary report by Sept. 3.

Ronald Moten campaigning for Fenty is getting him in a world of trouble. Either Ron dissappear or Fenty seperates himself from Ronald and peaceoholics publicly before the election. Ronald Moten is catching a lot of heat because the community feels he turned his back on them by supporting Fenty. Sometimes you can't be driven by money.

Ms. Alexandra, where have you been for the past four years? This question should have been asked a few years ago. The Peaceoholics have received lots of money from your mayor. That's why I am not voting for Fenty. Ron Moten is a thug and Fenty is no better.

It is about time we know how our money was spent. Typical Ron Moten breaks the law and wants to blame someone else by saying this is political. How is it political to account for the money he got from DC tax payers? And if it is against the law for a non profit to work on a campaign? He is clearly out there and he is clearly the spokes person for Peaceoholics.
