Despite being all but assured to win the Nov. 2 general election, D.C. Council Chairman Vince C. Gray is launching a final push to turn out supporters and win over skeptics who may not have supported him in the Sept. 14 Democratic primary for mayor.

Tommy Wells, advocates push for tax increase
D.C. Council member Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6) said Wednesday night he will not accept any cuts to the city's social services budget unless its also accompanied by a tax increase, perhaps even on wage-earners who make less than $100,000 a year.

Nickles readies subpoena for Harry Thomas
D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles is issuing a subpoena this evening to council member Harry Thomas Jr. (D-Ward 5) for documents related to his oversight of a nonprofit organization that is not registered with the Internal Revenue Service or in good standing with city regulators.

Campaign finance office to look into 'Write Fenty In' signs
The Office of Campaign Finance will hold a closed-door hearing Wednesday to begin investigating complaints that the Write Fenty In campaign is illegally using Fenty 2010 yard signs.
