A House committee approved a bill Thursday to extend the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, advancing a key priority of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) that has long divided District leaders.

House Republicans propose deep cuts to District, Metro budgets

House Republicans unveiled a spending resolution Friday night that would cut federal payments to the District by nearly $80 million and slash Metro funding by $150 million over the next eight months, as the GOP seeks to fulfill its campaign pledge to rein in government outlays.

DC Vote activists ejected from House abortion bill hearing after protest

Eleven District activists were ejected from a House subcommittee hearing on a controversial abortion bill Tuesday after they staged a silent protest at the start of the session.

GOP spending outline foreshadows District budget cuts

House Republicans unveiled a plan Thursday to reduce government spending by $32 billion over the next several months, and delivered fresh evidence that they intend to cut the District's budget in the process.

Boehner, Lieberman offer new school voucher bill for low-income District students

In the clearest sign yet that the ground has shifted on Capitol Hill for District issues, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) joined together Wednesday to announce an effort to "save and renew" a controversial school voucher program for D.C. students.
