A House committee approved a bill Thursday to extend the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, advancing a key priority of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) that has long divided District leaders.

Norton accuses GOP of trying to 'humiliate' and 'disrespect' Gray

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) ripped into her Republican colleagues Tuesday morning at a hearing on the District's school voucher program, accusing them of trying to "humiliate" Mayor Vincent C. Gray and "disrespect his office."

Boehner, Lieberman offer new school voucher bill for low-income District students

In the clearest sign yet that the ground has shifted on Capitol Hill for District issues, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) joined together Wednesday to announce an effort to "save and renew" a controversial school voucher program for D.C. students.

David Catania seeks education panel chairmanship

Fenty confirms Oberlin talks, downplays write-in campaign

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty confirmed that he is in talks with alma mater Oberlin College to teach political science there in the future. Asked why he would want to do so, Fenty laughed and asked, "Besides that it's the greatest school?"
