School modernization meetings set
The District's Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization, the mouthful of an agency that oversees school construction and renovation, has taken some hits in the past for lack of responsiveness and transparency. But parents and other stakeholders can have their say at two scheduled community roundtables entitled "D.C. School Modernization: Lessons Learned--The Road Forward."
The sessions will include an overview of the $1 billion school modernization effort over the last two years, and a look at the latest version of the Master Facilities Plan.
The first will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, at School Without Walls High School, 2130 G Street NW, two blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro. The second will be 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 24, at Brent Elementary School, 301 North Carolina Ave. SE, two blocks from the Eastern Market Metro.
You can also check OPEFM for a list of School Improvement Team meetings to discuss 2010 projects at Anacostia High School, Janney Elementary, Whittier Education Campus and elsewhere.
