Next week: D.C. Sports Gloop
I thought I had a charming, mildly funny little anecdote about a college football coach and his relationship with the Internet. But former Miami coach Howard Schnellenberger spits on my charming, mildly funny little anecdote. "'Bog,' he says, condescendingly. "'Bog' can't hold my matching handkerchiefs."
Is [Larry] Coker a victim of UM's and his own previous success with the Hurricanes, Schnellenberger is asked."He's a victim of freakin' talk shows," he bellowed, "and what's that other thing? Glops or gloops or whatever it is."
That would be blogs, coach, and their Internet cousins, message boards. They're the print version of talk shows.
Not sure if D.C. Sports Gloop really has the same ring, but in any case, Howard Schnellenberger >>>> Ralph Friedgen. In at least one way.
Btw, note also that FireJoeGibbs.com is available for $250. The same price as FireGary[Freakin]Pinkel.com. Gary Pinkel? I mean, Gary Pinkel = mediocrity, controversy and disappointment. Joe Gibbs = Genius. Wouldn't the demand be ten times greater for a Web site ridiculing a low-rent Big 12 coach with a 29-30 record in five drab seasons? Find me one non-Cowboys fan who would ever consider asking for Our Genius's head. Bizarre. I'm gonna find out their pricing methodology.
Many thanks to Brian Cook's blog for the heads-up; you can also read him at mgoblog.
