What You Need to Know, in Fewer Than 200 Words, Tuesday Morning

Gibbs says Brunell has been "inconsistent" but he'll stick by him, a decision described as a "vote of confidence," the right move and "stubborn and astigmatic." Boswell, meantime, says there are "no plausible alternatives" to Brunell. (Fans and bloggers disagree.) Texans game is dubbed a "must win," although three teams since 1990 have started 0-3 and made the playoffs. The passing offense is given an F, the offense is "The Greatest No Show on Turf" (registration), the Skins are second in the NFL in penalty yards (analysis here), and Portis is....who knows.

ACC football's taking it on the chin, from all angles (scroll down), including newspapers (registration) and bloggers, while fans rank the ACC hot seats. A Ga. Tech assistant notes that Friedgen's offenses weren't always great (subscription). The Hokies lose a backup DE. A Cavs student wants to buy out Al Groh's contract and the new basketball arena will host Earth, Wind & Fire. Yikes. At least UVA soccer is No. 1.

Nats officials visit Columbus in search of a AAA affiliate, and Nats bloggers exult over the Orioles store's retreat. Plus, "Girl Meets D.C. Soccer Player" and Ovechkin wears a "Love Metal" t-shirt? Don't we all.

Watching the Redskin game on Sunday night was so frustrating. I couldn't understand why Gibbs didn't put in a back up QB. Brunell is not right for this offense. He was throwing terrible passes with little accuracy. I am so fed up with Gibbs protecting him.

Am I a bad person because I giggled myself silly reading the article you linked to about Eskie and the girl who hit the dock? Probably. I have no shame.
