Don't Lose Faith in Those Redskins, Necessarily

[Edit: actual number of words has been upped to 7,825. I forgot Boz.]

After reading the 7,825 words of Redskins coverage in The Washington Post this morning, I was still left wondering how frequently 2-4 teams make the playoffs. (The 7,825 figure doesn't include headlines, photo captions, bylines or agate type and charts.) Here's an answer; over the past three seasons, exactly one 2-4 team advanced to the playoffs: the 2004-05 Packers. Here were the records of playoff teams after six regular season games:

6-0: 4 teams
5-1: 13 teams
4-2: 11 teams
3-3: 7 teams
2-4: 1 team

On the other hand, last year's Skins went 2-4 in one mid-season stretch and still made the playoffs (actually, the full streak was 2-6). On the other other hand, the Skins were the only team in the league last year to make the playoffs after a 2-4 stretch of any kind.

After the loss to the Titans, All I could think about was why does Gibbs think Brunell is a good quarterback. More than that, why don't we have longer passes? I think it is time to get rid of the 5000 page offense manual and just go to basics and get the ball down field. Replace the punter. And what is wrong with the defense? No pass rush and no coverage. Slopy and pathetic. WE need changes!

Warrick Holdman has got to go and get Rocky in QUICK! Burnell still stinks and if we are going to keep losing Campbell needs to play! Get the kid some experience so maybe next season we can make a run at the playoffs. At least he has the arm to get the ball downfield!

.. exactly one 2-4 team advanced to the playoffs .. BUT WAIT .. 2-4 in one mid-season stretch .. AND .. actually, the full streak was 2-6 ..

Wow all of these numbers are LEAVING THIS CHILD BEHIND. However, I'm pretty sure that playoff-bound teams (at least the good ones) rarely have to quote stats except one: the W column.

Displaced to Las Vegas 12 years ago, I am fortunate that the only 'Skins bar in town is across the street. The "coaches" at this bar and I agree....What is Joe & Al doing? This talented team, players & coaches, have the creativity of a high school team. Brunell.... is "he" the problem or the line and play calling? Our defense is defensless!! We will be lucky to finish 8-8
