What You Need to Know, Bloggy Style

(You can find your own bloody news. I'm sick of summarizing every Washington Times story in seven words. You know what, if you really want to read the Washington Times that badly this morning, go here. For today, no newspaper links.)

George Michael feedback: Caps Nut finds a great old photo of George. No, here's a real appreciation, and another by the SportzAssassin, and a slightly trashy look at his possible successor. The DCenters are excited about DCU stadium news, Tim Kurkjian likes Manny Acta, the Nats will open new retail stores (thanks to WFY for the links), and a complex statistical analysis says the Nats had the worst defense in MLB.

Ovechkin wears a t-shirt with a necktie and calls it "Russian style." Glen Hanlon agrees

to shake up his shootout lineup, and Pucksandbooks rightly discusses the idea of designated shootout specialists. Japers thinks Dainius Zubrus might be the Caps' MVP thus far, and DCCapsChick endorses him for the all-star game. Pink Seats is freaked out that Ovie's mom will turn her son into Lindsay Lohan, while Caps Nut says don't rush to judgment. And speaking of parents, the Hurricanes' fathers are coming to D.C. (Thanks to DCSportsChick for the link.)

As for the Skins potentially returning to play in D.C., Master4Caster laughs, Jack is ready to cry with joy, and DCist is skeptical. Also, AwfulAnnouncing wants Joe Gibbs to be fired, Art Monk and Russ Grimm are semifinalists for the HoF, and MisterIrrelevant has an awesome Gus Frerotte t-shirt.

George Mason sells out its home opener, Keyshawn yells at Joe Theismann, a CNN guy piles on the MNF crew, here's a pretty outstanding photo of Kirk Herbstreit, and this is why my children won't be able to go to college (also known as, the death of sports journalism).

And I'll write more on this later, but huge local rugby event on Sunday, with hours of action, and, apparently, authentic meat pies. George Mason sell-out + New Zealand meat pies=big weekend.

I'm sorry you're not linking to news stories today--I was looking forward to the seven-word summary of last night's Terps victory. ("Terps make Red Storm feel like twerps"? Something tells me the Bog would have been more pithy).

Only one thing is worse than the Washington Times, and his name is George Michael.
