What You Need to Know, in Fewer Than 300 Words

Ah, Gilbert.

And first things first: the Bayhawks arrive and will likely play at Georgetown, while the Nighthawks are hoping to get Gheorge Muresan, Manute Bol and 7-foot-9 Sun Ming Ming on the court together.

How did last year's playoff matchup become this year's midseason dud? Dan Daly says JC might determine Gibbs's legacy, Al Saunders says the offensive approach will change "quite a bit" this week, Mark Brunell says football

is "a great game but a horrible business," Al Saunders feels terrible for Mark, Elias decides that Reggie-Brown-to-Buckhalter play wasn't a fumble, Carlos Rogers counsels JC that things "can't get too much worse" for the Skins, O-linemen praise new starter Ladell Betts, T.J. Duckett talks about his mom and his playing time, and Shawn Springs calls Jon Jansen fat.

Mike Stanton says he'd be willing to join the Nats for a third time, Frank Robinson praises Manny Acta, MLB people choose Soriano over Carlos Lee, 19-1 and the Phillies "want him badly." The strangely average Wiz make history by going 0-for-15 from 3 and are called "mediocre," the Caps go to 0-4 in shootouts despite changing their tendencies, and Ted Leonsis tells us he'll own the team until death.

Maryland DT Dre Moore says he's all grown up, Ralph Friedgen explains the Terps' success in mathematical terms, a lawyer claims he paid Jimmy Williams more than $55,000 while he was at Va. Tech, a Hokies DB could make his first start since a summer car crash, the frontcourt carries Georgetown over an impressed Vanderbilt (and the NYTimes looks at Roy Hibbert), the Terps are playing better defense and moving the ball, and the men's soccer team dominates St. John's. Plus, Jim Larranaga says he'd like to get involved in state education.

0 for 15 from 3 is a fluke, playing lousy D is the killer problem for the Wiz - 40+ wins is a pipedream until they can hold opponents to under 100 pts/game.

How about Jim Larranaga's idea about expanding college scholarships to 5 years to allow kids to graduate?? Good idea so long as he doesn't want to give kids 5 years of eligibility.
