What You Need to Know
Previously Local No. 1 Maryland has a chance to steal an ACC win on the road, but it doesn't happen, as BC "swatmeister" Sean Williams dominates inside. No. 6 Virginia Tech whacks App. State, which didn't score for nearly 15 minutes. Loyola gets a nice win at Manhattan, and JMU loses to lowly Dartmouth. On the women's side, Maryland's Marissa Coleman can do everything, but Temple gave the Terps a real scare yesterday, and No. 21 GW gets a comeback win.
Yesterday ensures the Skins will finish last in the NFCE, despite nice enough days from Betts and Campbell, although Betts didn't get the ball when it mattered most. The Skins dominated the stat sheet, and players take consolation in playing hard, but admit that this year has been humbling because "we just kind of screw ourselves." The lack of turnovers has been "insanely bad," ARE is finally up to some trickery, and at least the team found a kicker.
Columnists: There's no way the Eagles could have won this game (Phil Sheridan), but the Eagles did earn that last drive (David Aldridge). Jeff Garcia's playing like one of the best QBs in the league (Sam Donnellon). The Skins are "the biggest tease this side of a Bourbon Street cathouse" (Rick Snider) and apparently had "a play-calling death wish" (Bob Ford). Ladell Betts isn't anybody's backup (Dan Daly) and provided "undeniable hope" (Boz). "If your players are giving max effort in every game and you're still 4-9," well, that's not good (John Markon).
Even Ovechkin's been reading about Crosby-Ovechkin on the Internets, but the rivalry--which isn't a rivalry--was really Ovie's doing. Ovie is also now translating for Malkin before tonight's Russian Reunion.
Manny Acta tries to reassure Ryan Church, and bring on James Lang!!!!!

Chick Hernandez actually commented on the Redskins Fanhouse. I'm giddy.

I'm sure Chic was just desperate to talk about something positive involving the Redskins. Heaven forbid they talk about a good team.

Leave it to the Skins to botch the "Philly Sweep Weekend" concept. Oh well.
Tonight's packed house at Verizon Center should be up for one hell of a hockey game. Can't wait!

Hey Big Al, I was referring to Va Tech's ranking in the Sports Bog's Top 11 Narrowly Defined Mid-Atlantic Poll Spectacular, which comes out every Monday Afternoon. That's not its real name. Still searching for a name.

JMU makes me so proud. I wonder if they thought Dartmouth was "beatable". Bring back Lefty.
