Gilbert Thoughts, Part II: His Birthday Party

How much this has been chewed over in blog world, I know not, but with Unsilent Majority planning a trip to Gil's birthday bash at Love this weekend, I figured we should ask Gil for a party preview. He turns 25 on Saturday, but the party is Friday night. I'm anticipating some streamers and party hats and festive cupcakes and possibly a Pinata. For Awvee, naturally.

But Gil actually brought this up himself, when I asked about the swimsuit calendar his talent agency is producing, and when he responded that the calendar would be given away at his birthday bash. So I went ahead and asked for the party preview.

"P. Diddy's hosting, so you know it's nice," he said.

Who else will be there, I wondered.

"Performing? The Game, T.I., Busta Rhymes, Lil' Wayne," he said, although what he really said was "Little Wayne," which struck me as odd. Now we're all gonna start droppin' the apostrophes, jus' when I was gettin' into 'em?

Anyhow, "Go on ArenasExpress.com," Gil instructed us. "The club did it for me, it just shows what's going on: Black Tie affair, red carpets, special invite only. So many people have been [asking for invites], anywhere from Nelly to Brian McKnight to Donovan McNabb. I mean, just everyone. I'm like, 'Wow!' I didn't even know I was like that."

It's worth pointing out that the Gilbertology site has already mentioned all this, posting an image of the Arenas Express card that gives entry to the party. Gotta figure some of those cards will wind up in the Smithsonian one day, or at least the Visionary Art Museum.

And the official party site does indeed confirm the host and performers. Also, one of the sponsors is Vitamin Water, the company whose product numerous Wizards slurp down after every practice, once it's mixed with Nutri-Build III. Also, the site says this will be "the flyest party of the year." Also, the dress code is "Super Duper Fly," which I'm pretty sure means that A.D. can't wear his super duper high leg-stockings. But seriously, I wonder if Awvee will be there. And if so, whether he'll punch anyone.

So finally, I asked Gil if he'd be addressing the crowd at the party.

"Noooooo," he said, coyly. "I'm shy when it comes to stuff like that. That's why Puffy's there. I'm gonna let him host."

Dan-

Please tell me that you will find yourself a way to attend his party... The results could be your best work ever.

This is the first I'm hearing about the dress code...I'm in trouble.

Ed Hardy is sponsoring as well, I think Clinton Portis just got a little excited.

Hey Dan,

I remember that Gilbert was looking for PlayStation 3's a while back. I just heard that every Best Buy got a whole bunch, so if Agent Zero wants one, thats the place to look apparently. I'd be interested to see if he's found one yet. I got one at Circuit City last week.
