Our Final Word on Gil's Party

Although don't hold me to that. Also, Gil has updated his blog, in which he talks about the party almost as an act of civic goodwill:

I know a lot of entertainers, especially rappers, and I wanted this to be special. I wanted to remember [my] 25th birthday. I wanted to put D.C. back on the spotlight for, you know, just anything. This was part of The Takeover. Just trying to take the city over by storm with anything.

And we thank you for that, Gil. In the blog, Gil says he doesn't have a final price tag yet, but that more than 5,400 people showed up. He's also been getting metaphysical, or nostalgic, or I don't know what. From the blog:

You're just living a big dream ... You know, I'm just trying to hold on to all the memories and enjoy the time while I'm here.

From his ESPN chat:

Daniel (Richmond, VA): Gilbert, you the man around these parts. How do you keep from letting it get to your head?

SportsNation Gilbert Arenas: Because I look at life that being in the NBA is like being like a leaf on a tree. Every season leaves blow off the tree and new ones grow on. I'm going to be a regular person when I leave, I was before I got to the NBA. I do normal stuff.

Anyhow, here's the post-party video. It sounds like it was pretty normal, all in all.

[Feel free to make fun of me for not immediately getting the "Reasonable Doubt" reference. And note that, while he kind of swallows the words, 'Dre Blatche says the whole Wizards team had phenomenal swag.]

In the future, should I need to back out of a party or a night out on the town, I will claim that if I go, I will not "have power" to accomplish my next day's tasks. Ovie is hilarious.

Great stuff, D-Steinz. Wizznutzz were right: they are the seed, you are the penis. And I mean that as a great compliment.

this is old, but, did anyone note that gil's quote of "..make bad decisions..." came from vince vaughn in either wedding crashers or the breakup?

Credit, you're thinking of the following line from Wedding Crashers... "It's very difficult trying to read the situation. And all the while you're just really wondering are we gonna get hopped up enough to make some bad decisions?"

Great call by Cron on the Reasonable Doubt look.

To far off the beaten path for gil to be alluding to wedding crashers?
Maybe, maybe not. I'd like to think while playing halo there's a chance you could say, "Lets go kill some birds. I'm psyched," and he snicker knowingly and exchange wedding crasher quotes for the duration of halo. maybe not. maybe i'll switch to water now instead of coffee for the next hour or so.
