Our Final Word on Gil's Party
Although don't hold me to that. Also, Gil has updated his blog, in which he talks about the party almost as an act of civic goodwill:
I know a lot of entertainers, especially rappers, and I wanted this to be special. I wanted to remember [my] 25th birthday. I wanted to put D.C. back on the spotlight for, you know, just anything. This was part of The Takeover. Just trying to take the city over by storm with anything.
And we thank you for that, Gil. In the blog, Gil says he doesn't have a final price tag yet, but that more than 5,400 people showed up. He's also been getting metaphysical, or nostalgic, or I don't know what. From the blog:
You're just living a big dream ... You know, I'm just trying to hold on to all the memories and enjoy the time while I'm here.
From his ESPN chat:
Daniel (Richmond, VA): Gilbert, you the man around these parts. How do you keep from letting it get to your head?
SportsNation Gilbert Arenas: Because I look at life that being in the NBA is like being like a leaf on a tree. Every season leaves blow off the tree and new ones grow on. I'm going to be a regular person when I leave, I was before I got to the NBA. I do normal stuff.
Anyhow, here's the post-party video. It sounds like it was pretty normal, all in all.
[Feel free to make fun of me for not immediately getting the "Reasonable Doubt" reference. And note that, while he kind of swallows the words, 'Dre Blatche says the whole Wizards team had phenomenal swag.]
