Bug the Bog: Florida's Pre-Game Music
I'm supposed to write funny little items about local sports. This is neither funny or local. But somehow, Reader Jared decided that I would be the proper person to find out what music the Florida Gators play before pre-game introductions at men's basketball games. I didn't know how to refuse the request, so I just called Florida.
The answer, according to the marketing department, is U2's "Where the Streets have No Name." I can't really think of anything to say about that, except to note that the song apparently seeps from the speakers. Also, I wonder if that's really the song Reader Jared was asking about, since I'd think that would be a pretty easy tune to ID on one's own. Also also, I was trying to think of a way to turn "beaten and blown by the wind" into some sort of pom-pom, cheerleader joke, but it wasn't happening. It's Friday, and all that.
In any case, I can only hope that fans from across the country will now bombard me with pre-game music questions about the Idaho Stampede (Party John is an all-star?) and the Division II Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys/Golden Suns.
