DeShawn Stevenson Hearts LeToya Luckett

Yup, it's true. DeShawn Stevenson and LeToya Luckett are going public with their long-simmering relationship, and (I believe) this is (maybe) the first place to report it.

LeToya, for those who don't follow this stuff, is the former Destiny's Child member whose debut album last year reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts and got some quite good mentions in the press, earning her various award nominations and a role co-hosting the Soul Train Music Awards next month. Stevenson told me he took LeToya to Gilbert's 25th birthday party, and that they hit it off, and that "we're a couple now."

"She's a good person," he said. "I'm getting better in my basketball, bringing my level up, and she just went platinum with her CD and she's coming up, so it's just working out."

Luckett was at the Wizards' game last night; Stevenson said it was her sixth of the season. He responded with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a season-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting, which isn't a bad night all in all. Incidentally, he also had one of the best post-game interview sessions of the season (more on that in a bit). So I asked whether he plays better when his sweetie's in the crowd.

"Always," he said.

I asked why.

"Look at her," he said.

See, Stevenson might wind up being not only the best value in the entire league to GM-types this season, but also to bloggers.

It's amazing to me the idea of free speech is bogus. You the Post can publish anything you like weither it be fact or fiction. When people who know Mr. Stevenson personally and knows the facts it seem to be ignored and looked at as someone is slandering his name but in actuality he's the one slandering his own name. He is the one in the public eye for the world to see and he is the one putting his self in those situation where he is viewed as a bad guy. You only get back what you give out. The truth hurts and with his back ground I can see why. I can understand a person having a dark pass yea you learn from your mistakes and move forward but when you are continuosly doing the samething with no thought of the people your hurting then it becomes something you are living and Mr. Stevenson is living for the moment not the future and he is hurting so many people along the way.

I'm pretty sure that LeToya is familiar with his pass and thinks she knows what she is doing the only thing is that she is only 24 yrs old and still has a lot to learn. you already see a weakness on her behalf to even get involved with a man who has lived his past, we as women are suppose to be able to know when not to become involved based on negative facts of acts, behavior and patterns. Once she developes that strength that all women one day develope;then she will know when to bypass temptation when the outcome can end up hurting her. In the end I think she will learn from this mistake or who knows? she may be the one to change DeSahwn and they may simply shock us all, besides; you never know.
