Chivas Supporters
Chivas supporters to Barra Brava/Screaming Eagles: Our flags are bigger than yours.
Other than that, though, the scene looks familiar: the off-key howling, the shirtless wanderers, the smoke bombs, the drums, the off-key howling.
In less humorous news, here is how Juan Pablo Garcia, who used to play for Chivas rival Atlas de Guadalajara, describes the Guadalajara rivalry, to the Press-Enterprise:
"Nobody wants to lose that game," Garcia said. "If you lose that game, you can't even walk on the street afterward. People will throw rocks at your house and will throw all kinds of things at you."...
But it was an earlier encounter that Garcia said he remembered most. In November 2003, Chivas beat Atlas 1-0 in a regular-season encounter. Afterward, Chivas fans nevertheless were not happy with their hated rivals.
"Their fans threw rocks at our bus even after they beat us," Garcia said. "I will never forget that. Imagine if we would have won, they would have probably killed us."
Right-o. Anyhow, the Screaming Eagles are having a quiz show-slash-viewing party tonight in Falls Church. No rock-throwing permitted.

Thanks for the pub quiz plug! Questions will be general trivia and a few soccer questions (duh!) so soccer novices can still participate.

Isn't Juan Pablo Garcia the jerk who made, uh, a 'jerk-like motion' (hope that's family friendly enough) in front of the Nest last year? It was one of the Mexican's from Chivas-light/USA.
Dan, what's up with getting your whole post quota in by lunch?
