Nook Logan Goes Down

Top of the fourth. Four-Nil, Marlins. Bog friend Nook Logan drifts back, makes a nice catch aginst the wall, right by the "410." Nook (named after "Nuk" pacifiers) takes a step, grimaces badly, throws the ball into the infield, then jogs awkwardly for a bit, then collapses. Training personnel sprint to center, examine his left foot/ankle. Nook limps off, with help. It takes a long time. He gets a nice ovation, made nicer by how long the walk takes. Chris Snelling comes on. The press box wags wonder whether the long was walk enough for Kory Casto to have received his phone call telling him to get back up to the bigs. Nogan has a lot of trouble limping down the stairs into the clubhouse.

Caron Butler and Nook Logan, in a span of two days? I mean, c'mon. Oh, and then Miguel Cabrera hits the inevitable two-run homer, and the fans boo, and Manny Acta comes out, and John Patterson is done for the day, Levale Speigner comes on to make his Major League debut, and I'm betting at least some fans are out drinking in the lots again. It's a beautiful day, incidentally.

Patterson: 3.2 IP, 7 hits, 6 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO, 80 pitches, 46 strikes.

Has anyone looked real close at Nook's health to make sure he doesn't suffer from some real serious disease like leukemia? It strikes me as alarming that a professional athlete in a game as pastoral as baseball should be hurt so easily.
