The Nats Are Patching Holes

Yes, that's right, Stitch N' Pitch is coming to RFK. Stitch N' Pitch, of course, is the wildly popular, variously apostrophed Zanesville, Ohio-based program that brings together America's love for baseball with America's love of the NeedleArts. [Note to MLB: As others have said, maybe you don't want to be running a program touting the beautiful symmetry between baseball and needles in this particular year. Check back with us in 2053; perhaps things will have blown over by then.]

This ought to shut up those Nats cynics.

Anyhow, Stich N' Pitch is so wildly popular that I, personally, have never heard of it, although since I heard it was coming to RFK this Monday I've been thinking of little else than what sort of beanie I should crochet for Dmitri Young, assuming a beanie is the sort of thing one would crochet. The background, from the release:

Hundreds of fans will sit together and knit, crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint and embroider while cheering on the Washington Nationals....The first 600 fans to purchase tickets will receive a complimentary Washington Nationals tote bag filled with needlearts items donated from local stores.

There are 23 national Stitch N' Pitch games this year; Monday's Nats game is the fourth of the season, and sure to be the best, from what I know of Nats fans and their sewing proclivities. "Counted thread," by the way, is one of the NeedleArts that will be on display. If there's one thing I know about this franchise, it's that they count every thread.
