Cedric the Entertainer Discusses the Mystics

I'm planning on writing about this later, but the Mystics had their Motown-themed gala last night. It was easily the best Motown-themed WNBA gala I've ever attended.

Littles, aka The Dude Abides , and I went to the event at the Fairmont Hotel (motto: "Yes, we can tell you don't really belong here, poorly dressed young bloggers"), not knowing exactly what to expect. Like, I didn't exactly expect the plentiful Mojitos, although I chose not to complain. We were hoping to grab featured performer Cedric the Entertainer for a little WNBA chatting, and we actually found him sitting in the Fairmont's pleasant outdoor courtyard, finishing up his dinner and chatting with Mystics interim head coach Tree Rollins.

Not wishing to be papparazzish, I told Littles to wait inside, and attempted to line up the interview, although the PR people really did the heavy lifting. Our talk took place backstage, before Cedric entertained the WNBA masses. A stage hand kept saying that The Entertainer needed to finish up with us so he could go do his set, but I guess he was too busy talking about his favorite WNBA players, his high school field hockey career and the mayhem that will ensue during this year's WNBA All-Star Weekend.

Apologies for the TK Radio Show-esque giggling in the background, many thanks to Littles for his continued fine work, and enjoy. Our edited video take on the event will be shown on Washington Post Live tonight, appearing on Comcast SportsyNet, assuming we're not preempted for Five Good Minutes with Phil Wood.

I feel bad for Littles, walking dejectedly back out to the parking lot to wait in the car while the grownups talk.
