The News From Hershey

For my money, the best part of Official Caps Beat Writer Tarik El-Bashir's story on the Hershey Bears this morning was the fact that Ted Leonsis takes his private jet to Hershey for AHL games. That's 130 miles from D.C. I've gotta start taking a helicopter downtown when I go to work. Anyhow, maybe Tarik should start taking the jet, since it would appear he is not practicing safe driving techniques.

As expected, plenty of bloggers made the trip for Games 1 and 2, which led to a 1-1 split and a lot of disrobing (see below). On Frozen Blog has a photo essay and a game story, even though game stories are supposed to be dead. D.C. Pro Sports Report has a big picture of the scoreboard. And The Peerless rates the Hershey mohawks, although not as extensively as I'd like.

Btw, much as I love Tarik, he was woefully deficient in not even mentioning the mohawks in his Hershey story. If the series makes it to Game 6 and I make it to Hershey, hopefully on Air Leonsis One, you can bet that I'll spend 90 percent of my words on mohawks. The best, virtually only, hair update I've read is from Mike Vogel:

As was the case last year, a handful of Bears opened the playoffs with modified Mohawk haircuts, tall and spiky on top and close-cropped on the sides. Hendricks' is one of the best of the bunch, and likely one of the most authentic. Mike Green and Louis Robitaille led the barber's brigade for the second straight year, with Hendricks, Chad Wiseman, Kip Brennan, Deryk Engelland and Scott Barney (and possibly a few others) following suit.

Via Stack the Pads, meanwhile, here's that disrobing action. It's from Game 1. Apparently overcome by insatiable feelings of loneliness and sorrow, players on both teams started ripping off their clothes and hugging each other.

I was saving the mohawk story for you, Dan. btw, most of the players are sporting fauxhawks. Which is kinda weak, IMHO.

That's pretty well shot video for someone floating in a bowl of Rice Krispies.

OK, Dan . . . you ask, and you shall receive. We have a review of the "Bearhawks" at http://peerlessprognosticator.blogspot.com/
