Wizards: Ready to Rule, in Gold

The bloggers figured this out long ago--c.f. Bullets Forever--but in the past offseason, a team spokesman confirms, the Wizards official official colors officially changed from blue black and bronze to blue black and gold. The change was hinted at last year, of course, with the shockingly gold alternate jerseys, but this year the last remnants of bronze--in the form of those thin vertical stripes--will be replaced by a new, wider gold stripe. Check out this Nick Young photo, for example. You can also expect to see more gold in some of the team's promotional materials.

In other news, the Wizards have unveiled their 2007-08 slogan: "Ready to Rule." "Ready to Rule," of course, replaces last year's "Go All In," and 2004-05's "One Team One Goal." If you wanted to take a bit of creative license, you could link this regal stuff with the gold stuff. What, precisely, the Wizards will be ruling remains to be determined.

Ready to rule?

Are you kidding me? Even if they were favorites to win the championship this year, a slogan like that just sounds so childish.

That slogan's a lot more for the Celtics than it is for us. Let's return to "One team, one goal"

Instead of taking a slogan obviously best suited for LeBron James, the Wizards should perhaps focus on a more appropriate motto:

2007 Washington Wizards - Why Pay to See Defense?

I was hoping for more wholesale changes - a la the Caps. I keep hoping every year they'll finally get rid of the embarassment of a logo that we have.

Hmmm don't like it too much. We've been ready to rule but we're missing that D.

It should be "Ready to D up"
