Congress Loves Favre
No, seriously, The House finally got around to passing its Brett Favre Resolution yesterday. By voice vote? Anyhow, about dang time, I say. With the Redskins facing the Most Awesomest Rugged and Leather-Hearted Athlete Ever this week, it's time to review just how awesome he is. (Programming note: my trip to Green Bay got canceled, and still I mourn)
Joe Sports Fan has the best Favre quotes of the season (Chris Berman: "Rooting for Favre is like rooting for America."
The Appleton Post-Crescent has the text of the Congressional resolution, which was CO-SPONSORED BY HEATH SHULER. 10 "Whereases," including this one: "Whereas Brett Favre has demonstrated that hard work and single-mindedness of purpose can bring success, and epitomizes the words of NFL Hall of Fame Coach Vince Lombardi: `People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society."
Brunell and Jason Campbell are in awe of Brett Favre. "To see Brett throw in person was amazing," Campbell told the Wash Times. "He was throwing so hard he was bursting the blood vessels in [the personal trainer's] hand." The trainer's just lucky he wasn't throwing at his head.
The Sheboygan Press points out that Favre is actually underrated: "As much hype, praise and love as Brett Favre receives nationally, I'm still not sure Wisconsinites fully appreciate the guy's unbelievable, ongoing streak of ironman durability." Bow down, heathen Wisconsinites.
Deadspin gives us Bong Hits For Favre.
Brett's hometown paper is allowing you to post Happy 38th Birthday messages to the big guy. "Remember when the ESPN guys used to mispronounce your name, don't think that will ever happen again." Yeah, ha ha, remember that?
