Final Sports Media All-Stars Karaoke Alert

Since Charity-oke event organizer Mike Wise is hawking his event to Washington Post Live, the former Washington Post Radio, Redskins Radio and various other media outlets over the next few days, might as well give him one more bit of glory on the Bog. To repeat, Thursday from 6-10 at Tommy Joe's in Bethesda, raising money for Running Strong for American Indian Youth, $5 cover, certain humiliation of all your favorite famous media persons, plus Mike Wise.

Rumor is at least one contestant will got shirtless at some point. Listed odds are 1-80 on Wise, 2-1 on CSN's Michael Jenkins, and 7-1 on Chick Hernandez. The Field will get you 100-1.

Beyond media skin, several rumors are churning around Thursday's event.

Among them...Russ Thaler actually wanted to do Mike Wise's staple song by Bon Jovi. This would dovetail with recent Thaler behavior, in which he booked himself as a guest on the defunct "Feldman and Maloney" show while Wise was co-hosting and stayed for the entire two-hour segment -- a development said to be directly responsible for the show's cancellation last week. Thaler also went over producers' heads last week after Wise was supposed to do the closing monologue on Washington Post Live, explaining that he thought Wise was becoming too much a part of a show called Washington Post Live. "He doesn't work for Comcast, I do," Thaler "reportedly" said. Said Wise, "I love Russ, but I'm getting ready to just give him my dog and my Jim Rome Show gig too. He clearly wants my life." (Kidding, Rusty).

....Lindsay Czarniak has requested the e-mail of the karaoke DJ, citing secrecy reasons for the performance of her and Bram Weinstein. "She's treating this like the Grammys," Wise said. "I mean, I knew she was a former class president and homecoming queen in Centreville -- but this is a little much. If I'm Kelli Johnson or another female performer, I'm worried. Lindsay is this close to opening up a D.C. chapter of 'Mean Girls.' "

....Several of Joe Gibbs players have hinted they might stop by...and we're not just talking current players. "Some guy that used to wear No. 44 is talking about coming after taping some TV show," Wise said. "I'll believe it when I see it."

....Michael Wilbon of PTI, Monday Night Football, NBA FastBreak and, uh, Washington Post fame will NOT be there. "I would skewer him for not coming, but he's showed at every social gathering I've thrown so I can't blame him for being out of town on this one," Wise said. Or wrote, or whatever.

....Soulja Boy is not among the 20,000 songs owned by Max, the official Charity-oke DJ. "It's too new," Wise said. "So it looks like Feldman will actually do Jim Croce. I apologize to everyone in advance for this development and will refund your money after he sings."

One of the contestants from Charity-oke 2007 has informed me that his/her shirt will be removed during the performance -- for charity, of course. All to help support wonderful American Indian kids on a reservation. I cannot say who the contestant is, what gender or his/her educational level. But I would be interested to see the odds on the contestants. [Odds: Mike Wise 1-10, Chick Hernandez 2-1, Field 100-1 - ed.]

Updated list of Confirmed Talent: Nigel from the U.K. will be there! Radio personality/comic Marc Sterne has been added to the list of talent. He may also help Fox 5's and SportsTalk 980's Dave Feldman and Around the Horn's Tony Reali with MC work.

Scheduled performers: 1. Russ Thaler (He's got a lot of Jersey rocker in him). 2. Duet: Kelli Johnson and Michael Jenkins (This ain't Donny and Marine, baby. Positive K's "I Got A Man" is a possibility). 3. Dave Feldman (Jim Croce and America are disturbing possibilities, but we are trying for "Soulja Boy"). 4. Marc Sterne (Something from The Doors, but we're secretly hoping it's not "This is the End.") 5. Chick Hernandez (He'll do a huge Motown star). 6. Michael Jenkins encore (Either Eminem, Snoop Dogg or some hip-hop icon. He's worth a second look). 7. Me (Air Supply or David Gates and Bread). 8/9. Duet No. 2 -- Lindsay Czarniak and Bram Weinstein (Or, "Sideline Reporter Boy Meets Leggy Blond Who Grew Up To Inherit George Michael's NASCAR love"). (Personally, I'd like to see "Summer Lovin" from GREASE). 10. Tony Reali (He might do Sinatra or be Richie Sambora for Bon Jovi).

If anyone with real American Idol talent wants to sing, Wise will break up the media performances for a $10 donation per song. But no William Hungs, please.

P.S.: Wise brought back some 10-year aged extra-sharp cheddar from Green Bay from a cheese store. It was nice.

Did JLC get Bogman some cheese for his wine?

I crack myself up sometimes.

You gotta do an expose on that Gigantic Jason Taylor Robot they had in Miami. It walked and creeped me out.

I guess they had it in London to promote the game against the Gents.

Here's what I could find.

Russ Thaler is actually from Jersey... Wise isn't. That should give Thaler the right to sing Bon Jovi just like he's back home making an illegal u-turn before pulling into a diner.
