Ovie's Look

At today's media luncheon. You're welcome, WTOP..

Alex Ovechkin has long hair. Hasn't been cut for about two months.

"It's the longest hair in my life," Ovechkin said. "Doesn't mean anything. Teammates say go with hair cut. They don't like it."

"Terrible," Donald Brashear said.

Alex Ovechkin has scraggly high-school-drama-club facial hair. Hasn't been cut in a week.

"I don't like do it, I don't like shave, hair cut," Ovechkin said. "Too boring."

"Why not?" the closely shorn Viktor Kozlov said of his countryman's look. "Young guy, you know, young European guy, young guy from Russia. I think it's the style right now in Russia. So it look good on him. For me, I've got different kind of hair, so I would never look like him. I have a curly hair....For me it's tough to grow the hair, too much to take care of, too lazy to take care of it."

What about the owner, what does he think?

"I have two comments," Ted Leonsis said. "One, his beard makes him look rabbinical. And there was some graffiti last year that said 'Ovie Is God.' So he's now an Old Testament God.

"Secondly, the hair in the media guide, he looked like he was in the band Fall Out Boy. He looked like Pete Wentz. Go Google the guy, he goes out with Ashlee Simpson."

(Wait, why is Leonsis up on Fall Out Boy? "I've maintained my relevance," he said. "I've made the transition from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0."

Anyhow, I'm waiting to receive an electronic image of the media guide shot, but it is...interesting, to choose one word. "Scary," was the adjective I used earlier.

"Yeah," Ovechkin agreed. "I'm a scary guy."

He looks like he could be a villain on "Heroes."

His power more than likely would be mesmerizing people with flowing locks.

Were the Wizards not doing anything today?

The Wizards are in Richmond.

Steinberg is in DC...or Arlington...Wherever he is, it ain't Richmond.

I think his English has somehow gotten worse.

Yes, I know the Wiz are in Richmond... was just making a mocking statement concerning a non-wiz post.

I too found hair-cutting painfully boring, which is why I made a life-choice to bald. I would have chosen a different option if I'd been aware of the sunburns you get.
