Packers' LB's Legal Troubles

Been following the travails of Packers LB Nick Barnett? Pretty sordid stuff. Two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct were brought yesterday after Barnett was in some sort of argument outside a club called Wet Bar during the offseason. Then Barnett's lawyer called a news conference to announce that Barnett would fight the charges. Here's what he said:

"Essentially what happened, as I would describe it as horseplay between friends -- no violence, no intent to harm."

And here's the other side's version of the horseplay between friends:

D.A. Ray Perline had more to say Tuesday about the specifics of the case. "The second incident, more drinks were thrown and a young woman was thrown several feet, causing her to harm herself on her way down, hitting a table and possibly chairs before she hit the floor," he described.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged victim, Amanda Geiger, says Barnett used both his hands to push her to the ground. She stated, "It was like a tackle but he didn't go down with me."

No one seems to dispute that both Barnett and one of the women threw drinks in each others' faces, which seems an awful waste of perfectly good beverages.

Throwing beverages in someone's face is a complete waste of good hops. But throwing $7 beverages into the air after a Luciano Emilio goal is priceless. And respectful.
