Wizards vs. Pistons

1) You may not have noticed, but some Pistons fans have invaded the comments to tell us just how much better than the Wizards their team is. Well, now their team is trying to outquirk the Wizards as well, with a Rip Hamilton-Billups shooting contest in towels and slippers. Writes Bethlehem Shoals:

We don't get the results, but this is still as funny as anything that's gone down in Washington. In fact, I'm willing to bet that most teams have stuff like this happening in practices; either it's not getting covered, the organization doesn't want it covered, or both.

Shoals thinks Wiz management has actively cultivated the accessibility and slightly wackiness of their roster, but I'd argue that it's all about Gilbert. He sort of demands that his various stunts get covered, while maybe other NBA starz are indifferent to such coverage. Gilbert would have already blogged about how DeShawn looks in his towel. Anyhow, Detroit, stop stealing our gimmicks please. Remember, Washington is refreshing.

2) Jones on the NBA, written by an actual law student, argues that Gilbert is the most marketable player in the NBA. Is this true? I have no idea. Give me LeBron and you can have Gil and we'll see who makes more money, I guess.

3) Since this is The Washington Post.....give $20.04 to Chris Dodd's presidential campaign, have a chance to win Red Sox tix. Via Red Sox Monster. And yeah, Chris Dodd has about as much chance of winning the nomination as the Cubs do of winning the World Series, but the seats sound nice.

4) Another massive blogger interview with Stan Kasten, from Nats 320.

5) And since Gilbert's cartoon shows no signs of coming to life, we'll have to content ourselves with this:The Hype Guy imagines Season I of Gazo the Pranksta.

Nothing wrong with a massive blog interview.

Especially when your interviewee is Ted Leonsis via his Treo. Like a true G.

Hayes better make that pre-season game on the 24th count. He'll be injured or buried on the bench by January.

Yo Dan, I thought you might be interested in a developing story over at bungie.net. Bungie is the maker of the video game Halo. Gilbert made his Xbox Live gamertag (Agent Arenas) public knowledge a while back (August 15th on his blog). Now it has been discovered that he (or someone using his gamertag) has been artificially inflating his rank on Halo by playing with friends and then making them all quit the game so it looks like he won. Check out the message board thread here: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=13580417&postRepeater1-p=1
Some people think this is a big deal (theoretically, it could result in being banned from Xbox Live). I could care less, but I demand that the DC Sports Bog confront Gilbert on this. Sorry if this message is in the wrong place.

Is Gilbert cheating at XBOX? Who knows.

Will he lose his subscription? Um, that is a big fat: NO.

How did he manage to play XBox during the Cleveland game on Tuesday?
