Eddie Jordan on Gilbert's Health
Last thing from Wiz practice. Eddie Jordan again said that Gilbert was "still not the real Gil." He was asked if it was safe to assume Gilbert would be questionable for Thursday night's game.
"That's for trainers to come up with," he said. "I don't know about those type of terminologies. It seems like he's gonna get some rest today, some rest tomorrow from practice, and then it's an evaluation period after that."
He was asked whether this knee will wind up being more of an issue than we thought.
"I don't think so," Jordan said. "I think it's just a normal recovery, rehab sort of thing....It seemed like everything was going according to schedule, and these are just things that come up along the way. Back to backs, he explodes, he lands hard, he may get bumped. All that is just a normal process. It's not an issue that is catching us by surprise; it's not an issue that's more complicated than we thought it was. That's just the way it goes..... We've just got to deal with it, and we're trying to find the correct measures to move along where he's going to be as healthy and feeling as well as possible to play at a high level."
Translation: "Ugh."

Eddie just isn't the same without a win. Or with a mention of Ernie Grunfeld's name.

If he doesn't know whether or not Gilbert is good to go then I believe it's safe to say he's questionable.

ominous
OK, here's the gossip from last night's "Meet the team event:"
When Gil was called out, he was delayed getting to the stage because a young guy with an Arenas jersey asked him to sign and Gil stopped and took the time to sign, right then and there. What a sweetie.
When Haywood was called out onto the stage at the outset to meet the somewhat but not entirely adoring full season ticket holders, the rest of the team already on stage did the wave.
When Haywood was at the autograph table later signing, he did this really amusingly vindictive thing. He was being asked to sign an 8 by 11 paper which contained wallet-size photos of each player in a circle around the phrase "Ready to Rule!" (of course).
Haywood's photo was in the lower left corner, just to the left of Thomas' photo. He signed his photo with a big cursive script that began atop his photo and then, continuing past the border of his photo and on to Etan's photo, suddenly dipped low onto the actual photo and totally obsured Etan's photo.
Hmm. His "line" for signing goes straight, then does a 90 degree dip halfway through the signature to basically mess with Etan. Could it be a coincidence?
All I can say is I checked my boyfriend's photo and he had a similar scribble all atop Etan's face . . . .

Strange comments from EJ today. Seems like he "doesn't know" about a lot of things - terminologies, stats, rotations, reducing minutes in back-to-back games for rehabbing players, winning basketball games...
What's Paul Silas up to these days? Perfect coach for this bloggable team. I'll never forget the "Am I speaking Chinese????" tirade as long as I live.
