Local Hoops: Where Bad Happens

Last year, the first of the Sports Bog Atlantic 11 Local Hoops Spectacular, was a good one for the locals, with seven NCAA tournament teams and a season full of thrills. This year is not. Three of our supposed standard-bearers--Maryland, Virginia Tech and George Washington--went a combined 0-3 last week, losing to Ohio, Old Dominion and Binghamton. UMBC--which does well in this poll even though probably two of our voters have ever seen the Retrievers play--went 0-2.

But luckily, and coincidentally, two "Where Amazing Happens" tributes to our locals popped up on the Intertubes over the weekend, allowing us to continue to pretend for a few more seconds. And no, neither video featured UMBC. The Maryland tribute did not include "Where home losses to MAC schools happen," but it did have "Where sweaty coaches happen." The Va. Tech tribute did not include "Where dropping four out of five to ODU and then possibly dodging the Monarchs happens," but it did have "Where [I don't know if I can print this word] happens."

Since I'm on the New Jersey turnpike right now and our Locals won't likely improve before I get home, here they are.
